If you’re paying this much, there is a certain level of service you expect to see. This house fell short on every occasion, including the fact that it was filthy. The floors were sandy and it smelled of smoke. The linens smelled sour and musty. The towels bars were falling off the walls and the kitchen amenities were old, dirty, and had flecks of Teflon coming off in the food. Aside from the general condition of the house we had two main issues. First, we picked Watercolor because we needed golf cart transportation for our son who can’t walk far due to neuropathy from chemo. A few weeks before the stay, AFTER we paid for the golf cart rental, the rental company sends an email saying not to rent a cart since there was no place to charge it. We were very disappointed since this was the entire reason we picked this house (8 months prior) and not the one in Seaside which had comfy outdoor furniture and was a better size for our family. I called the office and a rude manager basically told me I’d need to talk to someone else since it was the weekend, but that there was no way I could have a golf cart there. I was shamed for not contacting them before renting it. What?? After finally reaching the right person, I was told that he would make it work and call me back. He never did. I called again and finally was told we could bring a long extension cord and it would work. (The issue is that the house is behind another house and you can’t park close to the house. Be aware of you have mobility issues.)
Our second major issue was the washing machine. On Monday, the second full day of our stay, we tossed in wet suits- after all it is the beach. The machine immediately threw an error code. We called maintenance and that began a 5 day back and forth argument with them about the condition of the washing machine. After dozens of calls and texts begging for it to be fixed, it was finally fixed on Friday night. 12 hours before checkout. What a disappointment. We needed that washing machine for suits, clothes, and towels. Again, a big reason why we chose a vacation rental and not a hotel. The property manager did come and get some of the laundry that we were desperate for AFTER three days of calling and insisting. To be honest, her attitude and willingness to help will keep us from ever renting from this company again. She acted as if she was so put out by our need for laundry. In addition, no one will do anything all to help you if it’s not business hours.
