Home Sweet Home Away from Home

We were pleasantly surprised. Don't trust your GPS; it will send you to the neighbors. Fortunately, the direction provided by the Host are perfect. We loved the comfort of the cabin, and the private hot tub was very peaceful and relaxing! We hope to return.

We were not able to go because of Hurricane Helene and damage, power outage, trees on roads blocking our exits from our property. I contacted Vacasa on Thursday and at least 4 other times. They refused to help with a refund of the almost $800 or contact the owner of the property or even give us a rain check. This is unacceptable.

Nice cabin near Helen, Georgia. It’s about a ten minute drive to downtown. The cabin was clean and everything worked. I like being away from the crowds, but I’m sure others might find it too remote.

Nice but a rough start

We arrived and the property was very nice. However, the first night we were there we had to be our own IT support while trying to get the TV and internet to work. The dish box has been unplugged and we had to restart the router. Not the best start. Beds were comfy though and the hot tub was nice on the back porch. Stove worked very well to make our meals. One last issue though (and the biggest reason our review is so low) the second day we were there we had to get go out. We came back and tried the door code we received. It didn’t work. We tried it three more times and it didn’t work. We had to call Vacasa to change the door code so we could get in. We did not appreciate being locked out.

Isolated cabin

My sister & I celebrated her birthday & retirement trip here. It was a little difficult to find at 1st because one of the numbers on the sign at the road was missing & they didn't give us the road sign name to turn in. Our GPS took us past the cabin & opposite side of the road, so we had to call for better directions. When we finally found it & turned in, my Honda Accord drug underneath with the sharp incline at the main road & then the driveway is in very bad need of repaving. Check in was simple & the cabin is decorated in many different themes but still cute. At first glance it seemed farily clean except the kitchen sink spotted & the floors needing mopping but not terrible. Bathrooms were clean except the floors next to the tub & in corners. They left starter packs in the kitchen & bathroom like soaps, a roll of paper towels & toilet paper. Their were tvs in each bedroom & living room. The hot tub seemed clean(except the top cover) & working which we enjoyed. The beds needed pillowtop mattress covers for added comfort but not terrible. We had no phone reception inside the cabin but could go outside & get it. Anna Ruby Falls is one of my favorite places of all time. We loved the three waterfalls in one spot. The autumn colors were magnificent for the third week of Oct. & we were surprised so little amount of traffic anywhere except for right in town. Helen is a quaint town & you can walk to almost all of it from one spot, but having to pay $10 for parking.

What we need

The cabin sat on top of a small hill and secluded surrounded by trees. Fire pit out back, grill on the screened in porch with jacuzzi. The cabin was ready for us with a fan running, AC was on too. Clean and neat with all necessary it item’s provided. Bed was comfortable and the cabin was so cozy. Also I liked the outside spot lights.

Small Hickups, nice spot

My wife and I enjoyed the cabin and it’s location. It was a very close and convenient drive to Helen. We loved the pool table and the screened in back porch, the fire pit area was nice as well. The issues we had were few in number, but the things that concerned us were the black mold in the out of order dishwasher and we saw a couple of roaches in the kitchen. The grill was also very dirty and the built up grease caused many flare ups.

Great stay

Perfect area and cabin for our family. No complaints at all except that there was a mouse in the cabin. We lost about $30 worth of snacks overnight because a mouse ate through unopened bags of food. I ended up storing what I could save in the microwave, but noticed signs of a mouse being on the counter top even after I removed the food. This is not the owners fault and we are not at all upset. We just want to let someone know in case traps need to be set. We loved our stay.

Best cabin ever!

Except for a few minor things (3 light bulbs out inside), everything was beautiful and perfect! Only suggestion I would add.. either supply wood and kindling.. or renter should bring some. Otherwise.. loved every minute spent there! With easy access to Helen and other points of interest.

Nice home, loved the backyard

The house was nice, liked the home inside a lot. The jacuzzi was a bit smelly and very, noisey. The porch had not been cleaned, it had a lot of pollen everywhere and spiders on the small table outside. The location was really good.

Very nice and quiet

This is a nice place, although it is a little dated. The pool table is nice but it would be have been nice also to have some board game variety. The dishwasher would not reset so we could wash the dishes when we left but that was ok. We left a note. Overall it was a nice place to stay for the time we were there.

Needs work

Negatives:Mattress in second bedroom needs to be replaced badly. Fireplace was unavailable to use-was notified 3 days prior to arrival. The master bath sink did not drain. The hot tub had a foul smell and made loud noises (not sure if it was chemically treated properly). Very close to highway. The pictures show two sofas and there is only one. In the summary it said 3 dogs were allowed but then when booked said no more than 2 dogs-but eventually allowed us three at an extra cost. Pros: Close to Helen. Firepit was nice. Bedrooms were nice sizes. Kitchen had the necessities nothing fancy. Washer and Dryer worked properly With some updates it would be a nice place to stay regardless the proximity to the Highway. It needs some TLC . Not sure how long that hot tub is gonna last by the condition of the outside and the noises it made.
