UNDRWHELMING

Misleading title, damp towels rolled in basket, poor quality beds, poor quality tvs. There was a person on the patio from the main house wehn we arrived. This is not acceptable. The place is a car garage converted so it is not very large. Jacuzzi warm and NOT hot at all. This is a very brief summery, there could more details to accompany. Overall, underwhelming. The area is very nice and it is a great locaton for those that are not looking at the details, many of which are obvious larger details.

Go West Old Man

Our very good friend drove from Iowa to meet us at this little slice of paradise. We stayed in the guest house and the accommodations were absolutely perfect. As good as the inside was the outside was over the top- from amazing views, crystal clear pool, and the large fire pit. Jack took amazing care of and had some great stories. Thanks a million for sharing your lovely retreat with us we hope to come back soon!

Was a great quick getaway! Stopped with family on a trip down the California coast. I recommend this location, the hosts were wonderful, the views stunning, and the grounds serene.

Wonderful weekend getaway!

Great place to come getaway for a weekend or longer! We definitely could have stayed longer. It was so nice to be able to hang outside and use the bbq for most of our meals. They have tons of plates, cups, cooking utensils etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms were so clean, tons of extra pillows and blankets. The welcome manual was super useful and it was so easy to communicate with the host. We loved the backyard and pool/ spa. It was a shared space but the other group was so kind and easy going. It made the trip more fun to be able to meet new people and enjoy the beautiful yard together. Also, the location is 10 stars, it’s 10-15 minute drive from everything and you have the feeling your so secluded and safe. I can’t wait to book this house again!!

Calabasas Paradise

Very beautiful property! Had a weekend getaway with family and this was the perfect place for it. Host was very attentive even when a small issue came up, the host rectified it and improved our stay ten fold.

Malibu Retreat

This property was everything we were looking for while visiting our daughter in Malibu. It was clean, private, quiet, peaceful and just far enough away from the noise of PCH, yet convenient to everything. The owners were very friendly and respectful. The pool (although because it is winter and we did not go swimming) was a charming place to hang out and enjoy the tranquility. We will definitely consider The Malibu Retreat the next time we venture west to visit our daughter! Joe and Patrice

Perfect Malibu getaway!

We really enjoyed this property! Check in was easy and very well explained. The pool was clean and inviting, the house was perfect for our group to relax for the weekend. We would definitely refer this property to friends!

Malibu Retreat is one of a kind! From host, house and views to never wanting to leave!

Malibu Retreat is one of a kind! I was going there for business with a business associate and she really liked the looks of the place on VRBO and I was hesitant. I went back and forth with questions that the host Michele Clark answered all of them and made me so comfortable that we made the right choice. My flight was delayed but my business associate checked in first and had no problem. Everything was so simple. The Guest house was amazing. Very clean and OH WHAT STYLE IT HAS! You would have to see it to believe it. Michele and Geronimo were so accommodating. Out of all the rentals I have done This has to be the best thus far! If you have a chance to stay there DO IT! The views are spectacular. The pool area is absolutely beautiful. They have over 1000 acres of terrain you can walk. ( I myself didn't have time but would of loved too) There is so much in the direct area you never want to leave. I can't say enough about the host and the house. 1st class at its best! Feel free to write me personally as well I will be more than happy to share. The place is great!

Fabulous staycation in Malibu

We had a great time at this house. The pool is beautiful and bigger than it looks, the house is comfortable, and we didn't have to do much at check out. Plenty of parking, and great communications with the owners. We did yoga at poolside, and overall just chilled out. A great way to celebrate a 24th birthday with your best girlfriends.

The pictures sing of a relaxing place with spectacular views & a beautiful outdoor space... seemingly the perfect place to host a girls' getaway, but alas, what a disappointment. I requested to book the property for 9 people. After my booking was accepted (with a zero tolerance cancellation policy), I was charged an additional $ for having an extra person & to heat the jacuzzi, all to be paid via Venmo or PayPal only (which is against Vrbo policy) In the rules and regulations, Michele asks to be notified of all people on premises. I had massages planned and a private shopping event, but when I notified host, she said it “sounds like a party” which would constitute ANOTHER $1000 up-charge. Naturally, I changed my plans. Despite asking us for all people on premises, we were not extended the same courtesy. At least 7 people came through the property throughout our stay, including a man who showed up the first night during quiet hours making us feel unsafe considering one of the locks to our house was broken. In regards to hosting the welcome book said to text for help, which we needed quite a bit of (there weren’t sufficient paper towels, toilet paper, towels, nor soap, the outdoor lights were not working, we needed an outdoor plug which we could not locate... many things). We texted but never got a response. Since we weren’t able to get ahold of anyone via text, we tried to contact the host on premises, but were ignored and even got yelled at for knocking on the door of “private property.” We tried to use the grill the first night, but it was carelessly left dirty & caught on fire when lit. There was not even a fire extinguisher. The outdoor lights were not turned on Friday night so we could not even enjoy the yard due to it being pitch black out. The second night, the lights were on but then intentionally turned off, apparently because we were being too loud. If there was a problem with our volume, we could have easily been asked to keep it down and would have done so respectfully. Overall, we felt incredibly unwelcome. There was zero communication between the host & our group. When trying to ask for assistance, we were blatantly ignored. We tried to be as respectful as possible, but did not get the same in return. Lastly, the only cameras disclosed were the ones in the driveway, but it turned out there were cameras indoors & in the pool area, a direct violation of our privacy. This potential 5/5 property turned into a 1/5.

Beautiful Private Oasis

This is a beautiful property that is tucked away and secluded, yet a 15 minute drive to the Malibu Beaches and shops. It was perfect for my daughter and I to get some rest and relaxation. Michelle is a lovely and accommodating host. Just be aware (as I had failed to read the fine print) that you must provide plenty of advance notice in winter months to arrange for pool and hot tub heating and there is an accompanying fee.

Cozy

We slept 8 comfortably. We had All the kids together for our Daughters 18th Bday. The open layout of the guest house ment we were close and together all weekend, no walls and it was great. Heater worked great upstairs but the bottom floor got a little cold. Made a call and a space heater was delivered instantly. We had a great time. Thanks for the stay!

Relaxing Retreat!

My family, my 3 adult kids, and I, we had a wonderful time on this wonderful guest house, we had the pool and the jacuzzi just for ourselves. It was very private. We went on a 40 minute walk up the hill, there are hiking trails, and all around us was just beautiful mountains, we got to see the sunset over the mountains.. We saw deer wondering around the property. We took wonderful pictures. 4 miles to Malibu beaches. Thank You, Michelle for letting us share your wonderful retreat!

Oasis by the sea!

What a wonderful oasis to come to. Everything was just perfect. The pool is impossible to leave. The kids had a blast and with teenagers that is no easy accomplishment. The little cottage truly could sleep 8, so with 4 it felt very roomy. There is no kitchen sink inside, so be prepared to BBQ (which we did!) and bring some dish soap. There is an outside sink to use for washing dishes. We hope to return again very soon. Thank you so much!

Malibu Retreat & Yoga

We are a family of 5 and there was plenty of room. The yoga deck is fabulous, but the weather prevented our use of it and the pool; although the jacuzziwas used and enjoyed. The kitchen has a 5gl. filtered water cooler which was great. The only issue was some red ants. Our family went for a nice hike on one of the many trails surrounding the retreat. Malibu is down the hill, about a 10 minute car ride. I found Kia products (made locally right in Malibu) at a boutique pharmacy/cosmetic store in town, which was fortuitous. We would definitely return to the Malibu retreat.

Fantastic location!

We loved the location! It’s the perfect distance to lots of hiking trails and the ocean. The property itself is fun, interesting and quirky. The pool is magnificent. Beds are comfortable. The bathroom could use a better overhead light that doesn’t hang so low for tall people and a full length mirror, but water pressure was good and towels were abundant. We will definitely return.

Bohemian Cozy Mountain Getaway

We loved our stay at Malibu Music and Yoga guest house. The home is right in the heart of Monte Nido, an amazing little gem in the Malibu Canyon/Calabasas area. It's a quick drive down to the ocean (15 minutes) and a short drive up the hill to Calabasas (about 10 minutes) for restaurants and supplies. The guest house was perfect for a family of four and had plenty of room for us all to spread out and enjoy the space. The kids in particular liked the vintage Space Invaders video game in the living room, and my husband, a musician, loved the music theme (all of Michelle's gold records from her music promotion career are on display and add fun element to the space). My favorite element was a toss up between the yoga and meditation deck overlooking the mountains, and the hot tub. We were there in the winter so were not able to enjoy the pool, but look forward to coming back in the summer so we can take advantage of that too. Michelle and Sean were excellent hosts and were always available to assist with any needs. One thing to note - the kitchen is minimal and not really equipped for cooking (no sink inside, just a utility sink right outside the door, and small appliances, [microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven]), so it's best to plan on light cooking and then eating out or getting take out for most meals (we did cereal or bagels for breakfast at the house and ate lunch and dinner out). The guest house and the entire property provide an unique, tranquil experience, and we highly recommend!
