Our stay did not go as expected. Upon arrival, the property did not have working water for several hours, the heat was not functioning and was never fully resolved, and there were issues with the toilets. Because of these essential service problems, we were forced to relocate late in the evening around 11 PM.The replacement home was significantly smaller and not comparable to what we originally booked. Our reservation included sleeping arrangements for a larger group with multiple beds, but the relocation property had far fewer beds, which required several guests to share. This impacted the comfort and quality of our stay.The late-night move also caused us to cancel planned reservations that evening. We were initially encouraged to communicate directly with the host, which we did. However, we were later told by Vrbo that we should have contacted them during the stay. I recommend that future guests contact Vrbo immediately if there are major issues, even if the host is responsive.While some compensation was eventually provided, it required multiple follow-ups and phone calls, and it did not reflect the full disruption. I appreciate the host working toward a resolution, but the process was lengthy and stressful.
