This was our 3rd time renting a house in Cape Coral and the home was lovely. We really enjoyed the outside kitchen area, the soft sandy beach overlooking the canal and the billiards table. We loved using the hammock, kayaks and bicycles, too!
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this house due to the extremely poor management. Upon arrival, a contractor was blocking the entire driveway, and was painting a wall in the kitchen/laundry room, as well as doing repair work on the screened porch. He was told no one was renting the house, and was surprised by our arrival. We were very upset to not be able to unload our vehicle and relax after our 11 hour drive. Instead, we had to breathe in paint fumes and wait another hour for him to complete his work (he also wasn't wearing a mask, which was concerning due to Covid). When I mentioned my concerns to Roelens management, they refused to respond or apologize.
Once we were able to unload and get settled, we noticed the pool heater was broken, and called immediately to have this resolved. A heated pool is very important to us, so much so that I emailed the management company when I reserved the home (2 months prior) to ensure it was operational. Unfortunately, the pool heater was indeed not operational, and it had 30 Identical Error Messages indicating so. The management company seemed irritated that we kept calling and emailing about the pool heater begin repaired. We were especially frustrated since the volume of previous error messages indicated this was a known issue. Our management contract stated Roelens would be out 24 hours prior to our arrival to make sure everything was in working order.
Roelens Management did not uphold their end of the contract, nor would they accept responsibility for their shortcoming in ensuring the home and pool were in working order.
After 2 repair visits, the pool heater was ultimately repaired on Monday around 5PM, which means the pool was finally heated by Tuesday around 5PM, which is 4 days into our 7 day vacation. Our children LOVE the pool (much more than the beach, which is why it is so important for us), and they were so disappointed the heater wasn't working.
Roelens ultimately had the pool heater fixed, yes, but more than half our vacation had passed before the pool was warm. In regards to asking for a credit, Roelens flat out refused to respond to our multiple voicemails and emails. Roelens is unprofessional, unresponsive and just horrible.
