Fantastic house for a ski trip. True ski in ski out. Tons of sleeping room (we slept 12 comfortably in beds). Really cool downstairs bar/pool room to hang out in together. Brandi was a really great host and was incredibly responsive. We had a massive storm roll in the day we arrived with 40 inches of snow overnight, we had lots of questions about getting to the house in lieu of this and she always got back to me within 10-15 minutes. Also had someone to the house twice while we were there to clear snow.

BEST HOUSE IN TAHOE!! Seriously though, just book it. You won't be disappointed. I've never stayed in a more true ski-in/out place as this. This house has everything you could ever want for a large ski group! We fit 16 so comfortably and everyone agreed this was the best ski house they've ever stayed in. Brandi was an amazing and responsive host. Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable! We can't wait to come back! BEAR ON THE ROOF FOREVER!!

Incredible!!!

I hosted a wellness retreat here (in June) and it was fantastic!! I will definitely return. Why 5 ? Beautiful views inside and out, it’s quiet, serene, 13 min from town, close to many trails, 7 private rooms - several with private baths, big community space for eating and being together but also plenty of space to be alone. Kitchen is super functional and has plenty of what you need, laundry onsite on 2 out of the 4 floors and the owner was VERY communicative, responsive and accommodating. I had a full house and it was never cramped or crowded. Considerations: if you don’t like or cant do stairs, this house isn’t for you.

Fantastic Host & House

We are still smiling from our great ski trip with friends! This home had everything we needed and then some! We cooked all our meals in the house and all 14 of us fit perfectly! We loved being right on Stagecoach making it so easy to hit the slopes whenever we wanted! We especially enjoyed being able to sled once the lift closed. The host was very responsive to all my questions. Thank you, Brandi, for helping to make our trip so enjoyable!

Great Ski in Ski out

The place was great for our group. Lots of rooms and it was clean. It is truly ski in ski out. You just have to walk across the street to get to the slopes. I would definitely recommend this place.

Perfect location with plenty of room

Great access to Heavenly and plenty of room for a large group. Lots of parking available too. We enjoyed the pool table in the living room/lounge in the evenings!

Great for a large group. Brandi is responsive to all questions. So close to slopes. Probably not the best for green or beginner skiers but the property is wonderful. Bedding is excellent. Cheers

Great location.

Great location for ski in/out. Great for large groups as lots of beds and bathrooms, parking for several vehicles. Kitchen is a bit small and the lighting is kind of dim. Overall our group had a great time.

Overall Great Property and Location!

Spacious and very comfortable in the main house, cabin, and studio. Kitchen is very well appointed for cooking and gathering. Owner addressed a plumbing issue quickly and shoveled as much snow as possible when the storm cleared. Large garage area is perfect for donning/doffing and storing ski gear. Very convenient. There are many steps from street level into the main house. This was problematic to negotiate in icy conditions with tired legs at the end of the day. WiFi is dependent on T-Mobile cell towers that were adversely affected by a storm. The numerous and very nice TVs therefore could not be used for several days. If you plan to work at the location, prepare to bring a non-T-Mobile hotspot to ensure WiFi Access. The weather is not the owner's fault, but the Ski-On/Ski-Off feature, which was our main objective, required scaling a 12-foot wall of snow and ice to reach the Stagecoach trail and lift due to the record snowfall. Plus, most of the mountain was closed for most of the week, and skiing from the Nevada side to the California side of the mountain (and vice versa) was impossible. We had to rent a taxi twice ($100 round trip each time) to transport us and our equipment to and from the California Lodge. For this reason, the property was extremely expensive for our party of 9 people with limited skiing in a record snow year. However, on the days we skied the Nevada side only (we could not get to the top of the mountain until Thursday), once we got used to scaling the wall of snow and ice, it was very convenient to have direct access to the slope. Communication with the owner(s) was excellent in the months leading up to the trip and during the trip. Very responsive! In spite of all the complications due to weather, we left with a good feeling about our time there and will return at a future date.

Family Ski Trip

Pros * Owners/Property managers were very nice and responsive * Location of the property for a private sledding trail is unmatched * Ski in ski out access was fantastic * Proximity to the Stagecoach lodge to rent skis was awesome...so close, so easy, no waiting * Internet worked great, TVs had multiple streaming devices, was great * Plenty of dishes, cookware, spices available to use which was great as we didn't drive much once there. We cooked in every meal. Ordered Safeway grocery delivery * views from the reading room were amazing...we could watch our kids sled, have snowball fights and ski down the hill ----Cons: Detached garage wasn't great. It snowed a TON and we had to trounce through the snowy stairs outside to get to our garage where skis where, etc The place is very old and eclectic and could certainly benefit from a remodel and get refreshed. The lighting is dim.

Great Stay!

Great rental, especially for 12 guys. I was very nervous about no air conditioning but it was not a problem at all. Location & Amenities were excellent. Only real complaint would be price. Thanks for having us!

Roomy fun house

We had a great time at The Bear on the Roof. Great location for hiking, going to town, etc. Kitchen was well stocked, bedrooms were comfortable, plenty of room to gather with family. Just loved the extra large kitchen table. We enjoyed the Lake Tahoe area immensely!

AWESOME Vrbo Experience in Tahoe!

For anyone considering a place in Tahoe, you will not find a better rental experience than this property. The house is amazing and very conveniently located in South Lake Tahoe to the lake and attractions. I will warn you - once you get to the house you might not want to ever leave it! We travelled to Tahoe for my bachelor party and the house was perfect; plenty of room for a large group and an amazing location for hosting. The pictures of the property look amazing, and I didn't think they did the property justice when we arrived. Along with the house, the owners created an optimum Vrbo experience. They are extremely responsive and helped us prepare for our trip. If you're coming to South Lake Tahoe, I highly recommend this house and owner!

Great for snowboarders/skiers

This property is close to everything just like what the listing says. The communication with Brandi was excellent as she responds quickly. There are 3 flights of stairs and it might be difficult for older folks to go up and down the property. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and will come back.

Best Bachelorette Party Getaway

This property has everything and more! A pool table, fully equipped bar, comfy couches and chairs to lounge in, fully stocked kitchen, large dining room table for meals, 2 car garage, beautiful views, and plentyyy of space! What more could you possibly need?! We had a group of 13 girls and it was perfect. It really is the most beautiful place I've ever stayed. I also need to mention, Brandi the host is very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions you may have during your stay! There are a LOT of stairs so do be aware of that before you book. 100% recommend this place!

Beautiful Cabin

Brandi was very available and quick to respond by phone and text when we had questions. The building does have a lot of stairs but for our group it was not an issue. We really appreciated having easy parking and 2 spots in the garage. The kitchen and large table was amazing for our family to gather around. Every room was comfortable with lots of seating to play games and the pool table was a huge plus. Thank you Brandi for a wonderful home to vacation in.
