The pool was filthy. It was green and had to be brushed for 10 mins prior to using then wait a day. We had roaches, just two but both in the bedrooms.

We couldn't have asked for a better location. It was easy to get around the island, and it was very quiet and so beautiful! You could feel the love in this special house. The house was immaculate and cozy. The lani with the dipping pool was terrific. The management company communicated well. I wouldn't change anything, and I plan to return and stay there again!

The wading pool was extremely cold the whole time we were there, none of the 4 in our party could enjoy it, unfortunately …The vegetation is beautiful & creates much seclusion but it prevents the sun from shining on back patio or pool area, which was very disappointing

A Gem of a Gem

Overall it was perfect! The only problem was with the refrigerator. It wasn’t cold and some of our food spoiled. The food was expensive enough and to have it spoil was criminal! It was truly a secluded, beautiful and special place. We would stay there again and again.

“The Gem” lives up to its name!

For those, particularly couples, looking for a getaway from the rush and crowds of the resort scene, this is the place. It’s surrounded on three sides by forest, and you’re awakened each morning by the singing birds. It’s completely quiet and private. The dipping pool is a treasure, and really helps cool you off. The air conditioning unit didn’t work, but with the pool and fans we got used to the temperature and were pleased to have the fresh evening breeze come through the open windows. The kitchen is fully equipped and we were pleasantly surprised to find some nice-to-haves like plastic wrap. The washer-dryer unit was essential given our trips to the beach and hiking in the warmth, rain, and humidity. The master BR is a loft and open to the rest of the house; that greatly reduces privacy inside if more than one couple is sharing, but it’s necessary for air flow, and was perfect for us as one couple. It was very nice to have covered, designated parking, and to have a small, private community of just nine cottages. Perfectly quiet, which is so vital to rest and relaxation. If you’re looking for R&R, this is the place to stay! We will definitely come back again to enjoy this true gem!

Very private cottage…a real Gem

We’ve stayed at several VRBOs, and this is one of the best! The cottage is secluded, yet is located close to stores, walking paths, golf courses, and comes complete with its own dipping pool. It’s very clean and comfortable. It’s surrounded by lovely tropical forest all the way to the ocean cliffs. The kitchen is tight and the drawers packed a bit too full of kitchen items, but very doable. If we ever come back to this part of Kauai, we would choose to stay here again. Mahalo for the experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the “Gem.” Lots of peace and quiet tucked away in a lush neighborhood setting, across from a golf course. The car was seldom needed as we did our share of walking.

Loved our stay and will definitely come back!

What a gem - we stayed in February and enjoyed waking up to the chorus of songbirds and the feel of the jungle was absolutely amazing. The toads could also be heard at night which made it feel magical. The cottage is very private and quiet surrounded by lush rainforest and very attractive and comfortable. We enjoyed the dipping pool although it was not heated but it was still warm enough to hop in.(74 degrees February) We had everything we needed and the neighborhood is stunning. Daily walks by the beautiful golf courses down towards Hanalie Bay. Cottage is very comfortable and inviting . Definitely recommend especially if you don’t like the hotel/condo experience .

Honeymoon in Heaven!

My husband and I stayed in Kauai for the first week of our honeymoon, and we're so happy we were able to stay at Pali Uli #8! Even though it was one of eight similar cottages, this one felt super secluded and quiet. It was extremely clean and we loved spending the afternoons in the dipping pool! The location was perfect for getting to Hanalei and we also loved getting coffee in Kilauea. We would definitely stay here again because we loved how cozy it felt and the layout of the cottage itself made it feel spacious!

A Honeymoon Dream!

We stayed at this gem of a property for our honeymoon in Kauai. The property was actually better than expected. Clean upon arrival, beautifully set up, and had plenty of kitchen wares and necessities for cooking! The pool could have been cleaner, but someone came halfway through the week for the cleaning so it was all good. The air conditioner doesn’t do much, but we embraced the Hawaiian breeze and loved it! The location can’t be beat because you are safe and close to others but feel like you are in your own private jungle. Avocados fall off the tree daily, I mean, what more could we ask for?! The rental company was also accommodating when we had to reschedule our trip and the key was an easy pick up after hours. Stay here, for sure.

True Paradise

My husband and I stayed here while visiting Kauai for the first time. This place was absolutely perfect. It's clean and comfortable and felt so secluded and peaceful. It feels like you are tucked away in the jungle in a bird sanctuary. We also really enjoyed the out door space with the small pool. Highly recommend!

Wow, the "Gem" at Pali Uli 8 exceeded our expectations and was one of the best spots we've stayed on Kauai! The house is the last property in the community, giving it complete seclusion and stunning views of the surrounding jungle landscape. The interior was immaculate, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Even with mostly cloudy/rainy days during our early December stay, we still enjoyed the outdoor patio and outdoor shower. On top of the house itself, we absolutely loved its proximity to Hanalei, the gorgeous mountain views, and Ha'ena State Park (be sure to reserve your park entrance/parking pass online within 30 days of your trip!). Agree with other comments that the house is best suited for a couple, or more if you don't mind the open loft-style walls. We highly recommend and would definitely stay here again, if we're lucky enough to visit Kauai again in the future! :)

Lovely and secluded

We would highly recommend this property for any couple looking for a romantic get-away. We felt like we were staying in our own private corner of paradise. The house itself is clean, pleasantly decorated, and comfortable, but it’s the location that sets this property apart. In the mornings and evenings we went on long walks through the peaceful, beautiful neighborhoods and past the golf course. It was conveniently located near restaurants and a grocery store, but when we were at the house, we felt like we were miles away from anyone.
