"My partner and I stayed for one night this Wednesday, around 11:00 p.m., someone knocked on the door of our room several times saying “reception.” We did not respond because we were not sure who it could be, and it seemed strange that someone would knock at that hour.
When we didn’t answer, the woman tried to open the door with a key card. Fortunately, we had the safety latch on from the inside, so she was not able to open it and eventually left.
Immediately afterward, we called reception to ask if it had really been someone from the hotel. On the second call, a woman answered and confirmed that it had been her and that she only wanted to verify the names, telling us “not to worry,” which I honestly found to be quite a curious thing to say in that situation.
The whole situation left us quite frightened, as at first we thought someone was trying to break in and rob us. Even after knowing it was someone from reception, we still do not understand why a member of the hotel staff would consider it appropriate, at 11 p.m., to attempt to open the door of an occupied room simply to verify some names. For this reason, it is difficult for us to believe that this was the real reason.
The following morning we reported the incident to another woman at reception, who seemed just as surprised as we were. She told us that she would report what had happened and that we would receive a response or an explanation from the manager. However, we are still waiting to find out the real reason"
