This lovely 3 bedroom 3 bath home is located directly between gorgeous Hanalei Bay (voted the best beach in America for 2009) and quaint Hanalei town, where you'll find a nice selection of shopping and dining. Hanalei is a quaint beach town with charming gift shops, and a good selection of dining to satisfy almost everyone's taste! You'll also find kayak, snorkel and surfboard rentals, hair salon, yoga studio, fresh fruit smoothie stand, and even shave ice for the children. Don't miss out on the best Kauai has to offer. You won't want to leave! As of summer 2023, the home has air conditioning for your extra comfort!

    In the summertime, the water of Hanalei Bay is clear, calm and pristine. In the winter it pumps out legendary surf that attracts wave riders of all kinds. See the gorgeous view of dozens of waterfalls that garnish the mountain scape if it's raining. Propane BBQ, GAS Stove/cooktop, Ceiling Fans in each room, Upper Lanai with comfortable outside seating, Beach chairs, cooler and Umbrella for your convenience .

This is a terrific house located just one street away from the Hanalei shops and restaurants. It also is just a short drive or walk down to the beach. Liz was very helpful. I hope that we will be able to enjoy this house again at some point.

Wonderful stay

Very lovely home. We really enjoyed our stay. An easy walk to both the beach and town. Our 5 year old so loved it as well, good for kids and adults. Recommend

A great house just a short stroll to Hanalei shops

We were very impressed with this nice vacation rental right by downtown Hanalei. It is super spacious and a very nice layout. The big open layout of the kitchen/dining/living area is great. The beds were super comfortable. It is only a 2 minute walk to the shops and restaurants of Hanalei. We will be back!

We had five people and it was plenty big and nice separation of rooms with two ensuite bedrooms.

This home was the perfect location for our Hanalei experience. it is a 2 minute walk to the best spots here! You don't need a thing for the beach they have you covered with bikes, beach toys, surf board etc! we cannot wait to return to enjoy coffee on the wraparound porch and listen to the nature around us with sunrise again!

Hanalei Bay Vacation

I rated the accuracy of the online description a 4 only because its better in person than the photos show. Not sure how you could find a better house for what we needed. Great layout, nice big private bedrooms with bathrooms and convenient location to beach and town. Highly recommend!

Wonderful, relaxing oasis

This is our second stay at this property we have already booked it for next June 2025. This property is amazing. It is in a very quiet neighborhood cul-de-sac. There are three separate bedrooms with two adjoining bathrooms and a freestanding bathroom an amazing kitchen with a fantastic stove A wrap around lanai where you can sit. and enjoy evenings, al fresco I highly recommend this property it is even better than advertised. You will not be disappointed a perfect island getaway.

Comfortable home in prime location

The home had everything we needed. It was clean and really nice in a pretty neighborhood. We very much enjoyed our time here. It was a very easy walk (1 block) for restaurants and shops and an easy walk to Hanalei bay... such a beautiful beach. The house was well equipped for cooking. It also had beach towels/chairs/toys and bicycles. An outdoor shower and laundry also were helpful after coming home from the beach. The host was also very friendly and responsive.

Hanalei Heaven

Hawaiian style home comfortably furnished in the quaint little town of Hanalei. Loved the wrap around deck with comfy seating and the big ole tub in the master bath (big enough for 2 ;-). Those that like central air dialed down to frigid will not appreciate that only the main bedroom has a window unit air conditioner. We loved it and felt like we were staying in a friend's home. Loved being able to walk to restaurants, shopping, grocery store and of course the world's most beautiful beach, Hanalei Bay. Highly recommend!

Perfect paradise

2025 was our third stay at this property. We have already booked it for the first two weeks of July 2026 amazing property very close to Beach and town but seems extremely private in a quiet cul-de-sac well quiet except for the roosters but we are on Kauai after all! Beautifully appointed property has all the amenities you could ever need sitting out on the lanai either late night or early morning is so relaxing, looking out at the serene landscape and the many waterfalls in the mountains was spectacular! We are so sad to leave every year but we are so looking forward to returning each time. I highly recommend this property. I am sure we will be renting it for years to come. We have stayed all over Hanalei Bay and Princeville.This is the best place at the North Shore of Kauai.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The photo on Vrbo is misleading. the property is on a cul'de'sac backs on to the shops with no grass area. The main issue is the home next door is under full re-construction work starts at 6:30am and finishes around 4:00pm this should be explained in the rental contract of on the site or the property priced accordingly derring the construction period.

Hope to make this place a habit!

This property is definitely a jewel. The kitchen was nicely updated and fully stocked. My husband and our adult married children stayed the week of Labor Day weekend. We rode the bikes quite a bit to the beach and store. It was nice to have equal bathrooms to bedrooms. The house is conveniently located to town and the beach. We never heard loud music like other reviews mentioned. The host was very helpful and prompt when I had questions. My only hesitation for future reservations would be the no refund so far out and lack of A/C in secondary bedrooms and gathering space. It was very hot while we were there and we were pretty uncomfortable. That being said, we live in a dry climate so I’m sure it’s harder on us than most people. Mahalo!

The most magical place

They promptly answered questions and were able to deliver a pack n play for our daughter prior to our arrival. The yard is well kept and has gorgeous views. The best part was the location. It is within walking distance from the town and beach (and the house has plenty of beach supplies). We had plans to go to other parts of Kauai during our stay but ended up staying put after seeing how amazing this place was. We love Hanalei and have visited the town before but it was our first time getting to stay in the town. We will be staying here again and will be encouraging anyone we know going to Kauai to stay here as well!

Having the outdoor shower was a huge bonus each day returning from the beach. Loved having the bicycles available for our use. Location can't be beat. All in All, Kainalu is a special home. This was our 49th time to land in Lihue and stay on the north shore, but it was the first for our new grandson, so we are starting a third generation of Hanalei worshippers!

A family celebration

We celebrated a 65th and 70th family birthdays, wife's retirement, a daughter's engagement, and a son's new career path. Kainalu Hanalei was decorated in Hawaiian decor which we loved, perfect floor plan for us, beach gear, and an amazing location; cul-de-sac, easy walking distance to beach, and the town of Hanalei. And short drive to Princeville and North Shore beaches. We spent lots of time on the lanai with beautiful mountain views. Hawaii Life staff were there for us and we talked with their concierge several times. Our Kauai visit was truly the trip of a lifetime!
