Spent the week between Christmas and New Years here with my wife and two sons. Everything was as represented. However, as a previous reviewer wrote earlier, “it is a bit off the beaten path.” Thats kind of an understatement.
We arrived late in the evening on the 26th after a series of flight delays. Had we not been fortunate enough to hop in ‘Zelmas Taxi’ we would never have found it on our own. When we told her the address she immediately responded, “I hate that road.” We soon found out why. Lets face it, all the roads on Exuma are a pot-hole fest anyway, but this one is a special case. However if you rent a jeep or SUV, after a day or two you get used to it and it adds a certain off-road charm to the experience.
Back to the house. As I titled this, it is clean and comfortable. The beds are great, the kitchen is fine and although the couches are a bit thread bare in parts they are large and comfortable as well.
The only downside was on our second night a random guy knocked on our door looking for ‘matches’ so he could eat. He was rambling and semi-coherent and wouldn't leave. I’m a big guy and I have a son who is an offensive lineman in college standing beside me so nothing came of it. When he wouldn't leave I simply shut the door and called the police - who never showed by the way. The guy finally left and we had no problems after that. I just chalked that up to a bizarre third world moment.
All in all, the house is a great value for what it costs. Its not luxurious, its not near the water, its not near George Town and it requires a 4WD vehicle but it is clean, comfortable and well equipped. We had a fun family vacation and enjoyed our time there.
