This home has amazing views, and overall, we had a great time in and around Bar Harbor as this home offers a "forty minute" drive to just about anywhere we wanted to go. Yet, I think a little 'heads up' on a couple items are important here. The home has a thermostat, but it doesn't seems to be working, and the place is hot. The lower level is cooler, but quite musty (in feeling and smell) with no where really to 'hang out.' A larger bathroom is on that lower level with a nicer shower, but it is odd using it as the primary bathroom since you are going through a bedroom to get there (and then using that bathroom through a paper thin door that sticks and barely shuts . . . and if a person is in bed, that person would be staring right into that door). The alternative upstairs bathroom then offers its own challenges. The toilet is circular and tiny (with a padded seat making it smaller) and leaves you facing up against (if not hanging over) the sink. Grown men can't use this bathroom without cussing. The shower here is then half into a wall . . . with a dresser at the other end . . . also with a window looking out to the street you access the home from. Granted, not a crowed street, but worth noting. The contents of the kitchen, then, really need to be updated. The pots and pans each have something about them that makes them not quite what you need/what and/or impossible to use with loose/missing handles, etc. Then, BYOTW (tupperware). If you plan on using the kitchen to make meals and save some money, know that the home offers no temporary storage. Plan on storing all food in Ziploc baggies of various sizes and hoping for the best and/or for when you need a baggie of Mac n Cheese to go. In light of all that, I think it is priced a little high for the complete experience. I did enjoy the views, but for a vacation, I could have been more 'comfortable' than I was at that price range. Yet, if none of those details matter to you, the views were great, the drive was reasonable, and the area was peaceful.
