While there the sheep had lambs. It was great. She gave us tips about the island and was very helpful. The apartment is huge. We had a lot of room. It was the cleaniest home we have stayed in. "We were there Jan14-17 2026. It’s an older home tucked into a quiet neighborhood about 25 miles north of Hilo—so it’s a bit remote if that matters to you. We loved the location and neighborhood. As someone else mentioned, the interior has a cozy “Maine cabin” feel, but it’s nice and clean, with amenities as advertised. Ever stay in a a lot of dollar a night VRBO who had no back up toilet paper and no coffee, tea, or even a filter this is your place. "Positives: Close to activities we were interested in (waterfall hikes, lava tube exploring, horseback tour, etc). Well-appointed with furnishings, kitchen appliances, BBQ utensils, and the like. Did not want for such items! Mostly private setting with orchard behind house. Improvements: Bedroom windows did not lock, but were elevated well above ground level.
