The hotel location is excellent, right on the beachfront. it is a ten minute cab ride to the old city center & about twenty to the airport. Cabs are plentiful, inexpensive & the drivers are very pleasant. The rooftop pool is larger than most, with a bar and a stunning ocean view. There is a sports bar/ restaurant located on the second floor with good food, facing the ocean and open to the breeze. The rooms are comfortable & a nice size. We have stayed there before & would stay there again in the future.
Beautiful setting and grounds. The only thing I would suggest would be for Hilton security to better protect guests from the people selling services, etc., on the beach/oceanfront. The security guards mostly sat in the shade on a chair the entire time and didn't really protect guests from annoying people selling drugs, massages (with the suggestion of prostitution as well), fish, etc. The staff inside the hotel and at the pool were terrific but the security guards did nothing to protect guests trying to relax. I enjoy the ocean more than pools so I spent more time in the ocean.
the ocean is very private and very enjoyable but you must run a gauntlet of hustlers to get there. I often felt uneasy about the constant propositions from people trying to sell goods and services at the beach, and felt nervous about leaving my cell phone, etc. at the beach.
Hotel staff are friendly, accommodating, and extremely helpful. My husband stayed here as a child and it was just as he remembered. Pool is clean and bathrooms are too. ZERO mold which is typical in tropical climates. Our kids had a blast and loved the experience.
The hotel is well located on Bocagrande. The beach is very close, but Bocagrande itself is not the best beach area. The hotel pool is nice for getting some sun.
Our room was clean, modern, and very comfortable. The bathroom has good fixtures, a hair dryer, good hot water, and nice towels. The bed was comfortable. We only had some trouble controlling the AC but it was a good system.
Breakfast is a good buffet with scrambled eggs, sausages, little arepas, breads, cereal, fruits, coffee, tea, juice.
The staff were nice and helpful, not overly friendly but always available.

"Where I will be staying in Cartagena in the future"
Prone to profound laziness, I rarely take time to reflect on places I have stayed, but the staff and room at the Regatta were so wonderful I just have to pass this along. We (myself, wife and newborn baby) couldn't have asked for a more pleasant or satisfying stay in a great city where people do their utmost to promote not only their hotel, but the city, and country, as well. The rooms are converted apartments, and so are very spacious and comfortable, each with its own unique design, and tons of closet space. The beach is directly out front of the hotel, and towel service is provided, although you need to rent chairs and an umbrella ($12-15 all day) if you desire. The location is perfect, easy walking distance to anything you may need (shopping, food), but for me the staff/maintenance's sincerely pleasant, "we will help with whatever " attitude were a most welcome and pleasant part of a spectacular place to stay. Great price, great service, good buffet (simple, but plentiful with great fruit), make this the place I will be staying in Cartagena in the future.
