Guest Access:
Guests will have fully private access to this 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom English basement apartment in the heart of the Petworth neighborhood of DC. Guests will also have 1 off-street parking space available to them at the rear of the home.
The Neighborhood:
The Petworth neighborhood is one with a strong sense of community. Petworth has what is known as a porch culture where residents stroll down streets and shout hello to their neighbors. It ’s a community where residents support one another whether it’s borrowing sugar from your next-door neighbor or attending the free Petworth Jazz Project or the Celebrate Petworth Festival an event where it’s difficult to tell if the residents are neighbors or family.
Petworth Community Market is a popular social hub. Each Saturday from May to November, residents gather to support local farmers and artisans while stocking up on weekly groceries. Live music is played while neighbors visit, eat, and shop.
Just as recently as a decade ago it was uncommon to see a mother pushing a stroller. However, Petworth now is what can be considered a stroller city. The number of young professionals and families moving to Petworth has exceedingly increased over the past few years. Even more common now is the stroller-dog combination.
Another delightful feature of Petworth is what is referred to as “the block.” The block, located on Upshur Street between 8th Street SW and 9th Street NW, is a lively section of the neighborhood that includes eccentric furniture shops and vintage clothing boutiques along with Latin and Japanese inspired restaurants.
The large variety of ethnic restaurants in the neighborhood is unsurpassed. French, Ethiopian, Scandanavian, Korean, Italian, Indian, and numerous other cultures are represented in eateries throughout Petworth. Along with the diverse dining options, the diversity in residents comes in at the number three spot for the most diverse DC neighborhoods.

Access to your private accommodation is through a shared backyard. We strive to maintain this area as a welcoming and peaceful entry point for your convenience and enjoyment.
Our Furry Friend: Please note, as a lover of pets and nature, we spend time in the backyard with our dog. Rest assured, our dog is always supervised while outdoors and is friendly, with a gentle demeanor and a wagging tail.
Friendly reminder that our policy is NO Pets, and as a heads up any service dogs you have may become distracted by our own dog. If you plan to bring a service dog, please let us know in advance:
1) Whether the guest requires their service animal because of a disability
2) What work or task the service animal has been trained to perform
A guest’s service animal must not be:
-Out of control
-Un-housebroken
-Left alone at the listing without prior approval
-Allowed into areas that are considered unauthorized to the guest
-Allowed in a public space without being harnessed, leashed, or tethered and not under the guest’s control
Also, you might see an orange cat who is also friendly roaming around the property with a collar on.
Although individuals can legally smoke marijuana on private property in Washington, DC., smoking of any kind is not allowed anywhere on the property. Thanks for your cooperation in advance!
Booking & Guest Verification Notice
To help ensure a safe and respectful stay for our guests and neighbors, reservations may be subject to additional verification prior to check-in. Guests may be asked to provide a valid government-issued ID and additional information related to their stay.
Parties, events, and unauthorized gatherings are strictly prohibited. All reservations must comply with the property's occupancy limits and house rules.
Local Guest Policy
To help protect the property and maintain a safe environment for our guests and neighbors, we do not accept reservations from local guests residing within the surrounding area. Local reservations may be subject to cancellation. If you are a local resident and believe your stay may qualify for an exception, please contact us prior to booking.
• Please be courteous to the neighbors living around you at ALL times by keeping noise volumes to a reasonable level. From 10 PM - 8 AM please adhere to very strict quiet hours when noise is to be kept at a minimum.
• Please do NOT flush anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products, baby wipes, contraceptives, nor paper towels should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that any of these items have been flushed and clog the plumbing system you could be held responsible for the cost of repair.
• ABSOLUTELY NO Smoking or vaping of any kind inside of the suite.
• ABSOLUTELY NO gatherings causing excessive noise. No guests allowed on the premises that have not been added to the reservation guest count.

**Late checkout may be allowed as long as a minimum 1 hour notice is given and permission is granted. As each turnover is scheduled around our cleaning team and the next guest’s arrival, an unapproved late departure can create significant disruption. If there is a late checkout without prior notification or permission, fees will apply.
