Great Ski Trip!
We had an amazing time staying here for our Steamboat ski weekend! The cabin was very well equipped, Deb was a very gracious host, and the property was beautiful! We spent most of our time in Steamboat, however everyone wished we could have spent more time in house. It slept 15 comfortably and made the weekend that much more enjoyable! Highly recommend!

Great time with family
Perfect place to bring a bigger family to enjoy Colorado. Deb was great on info for the area. She also gave us a heads up on roads being closed and a detour around it during our stay. Everyone had a good time during our stay.

Awesome place!
This house is perfect for a large group of people!! We saw so many animals just sitting on the back deck. It's a pretty magical place all around. The house could use some box fans (we purchased some ourselves, although Deb said she would go and get some for us) because airflow was minimal, and it was hot without AC (unusually warm weather, though). The directions, although detailed, through us off because it wasn't clear the house was BEFORE the address that was listed. I think they could be simplified and will lead to less confusion. ;) All in all, a great place to stay and we would return!

Magical Ski Retreat
This is a very special place and we were delighted to have the opportunity to enjoy it. Manager Deb gave us a fascinating orientation of the history and wildlife in the area and was extremely responsive and helpful. We skied the trails into the Routt National Forest and were completely taken by the landscapes and views of the valleys below. The cabin were clean, cozy and comfortable and the overall experience exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a retreat unlike anything else.

Great Family Getaway
Wanted to spend some family time together over the holiday break. Our stay was perfect! The house was very clean and had everything we needed from a plethora of bath towels to enough pots and pans for a small army! The views were spectacular! We had a great time outside in the snow building a snowman, having snowball fights and checking for animal tracks. Mama moose and calf frequented the warm water pond. In addition, we saw deer, elk, magpies, a hairy woodpecker, coyote, and the biggest, fattest snow shoe hares imaginable! When we needed to thaw, the cozy fireplace with plenty of wood, the pool table and games as well as three levels to spread out in provided fun for all. You couldn’t ask for a better host than Deb who provided info on everything from the house’s history and local wildlife to weather reports and places in Walden. Would recommend this place if you are looking for some downtime in a peaceful setting!

This it’s not what the pictures show , this it’s way better you make this cabin your home Debbie it’s amazing host and things to do are amazing .. the view it’s lovely I can only say that It! Has being the best cabin we stayed so far and trust me we do this every year .. rent you won’t regret

A great stay in a sublime scenic setting.
We had a wonderful stay at this spectacularly scenic home. We visited Rocky Mountain National Park while here and discovered that we enjoyed better views and saw more wildlife from our living room than at the National Park. Deb is a great host and has a wealth of information. The hikes on the property were spectacular with fall colors at their peak. We made many treasured memories and hopefully will visit in future.

Perfect for our Family Reunion
The house is located on the west side of North Park with beautiful views. The spacious family room with large windows facing south offer exceptional wildlife viewing along with great scenery. Bedrooms were roomy, the kitchen was well equipped, and the extra refrigerator really was needed for us. All in all, an exceptional value. There are trails on the property as well as hiking trails nearby on the Forest allowing everyone with an opportunity to explore.

Excellent experience
We loved staying here and Deb was a great host. The location of the property was superb with a mountain view and wildlife. The house was spacious and worked well for our family. We will hope to visit again someday, and wish we could have stayed longer.

Peace and tranquility
This is our second time staying here and we love the peaceful surroundings. Sitting on the deck watching for wildlife. Playing games with the family. Deb is a great host and makes sure you have everything from propane to paper towels.

Great place to be a part of nature
Well equipped in the kitchen, gray space to spread out in. The wildlife is amazing, all from the deck, family room and kitchen! Lots of trails for hiking also!

Family Getaway
Spacious cabin in a beautiful, remote location. Plenty of room to spread out. The kids LOVED the loft and the master is huge. Other bedrooms are also nice. Downstairs rooms were a little loud and could hear everyone upstairs but that’s normal. Could use a little updating. We saw moose every day. Made lots of memories. Nice place for a family reunion.

Great time
The property was perfect for our large group and dogs. We spent two night s at the cabin. There was something for all of us to do. Ice fishing, pool, games, sledding. The cabin was set up great for kids and adults. Kids loved the loft. Teens loved the game area and adults loved the main floor with the beautiful view! We do a large group trip every year, and will definitely be back to this cabin.

Christmas vacation
We had a really great time at this beautiful log home. The weather was a little extreme lol, but all in all it was a great family experience. If the weather has been better we could’ve explored more around the property but all was well. Deb was wonderful and met our needs.

Lived up to expectations once cows moved out
We all really enjoyed our 3 day and 2 night stay. First day/night there were many dozens of cows in wetland. No wildlife. Next night cows moved out of area. Beaver, red fox, moose and deer all observed. Night sky was amazing. Great place for large family outing.

Loved this piece of paradise
We absolutely loved our family get together at Deb's Wapiti Retreat. It was a great place for the kids - and adults - to play. Large enough for everyone to have their own space, away from the city noise, enjoyed the wildlife, short hikes with the little ones and some fishing. Deb was great to work with and very responsive for any quetions I had. Thank you, Deb, for helping to create wonderful memories.

Mountain Getaway
Our family loved this place! Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The wildlife viewing out the big front windows was awesome! Morning coffees on the front porch were great. There is plenty of space for everything in the well stocked kitchen. Deb responded to any questions quickly and was very helpful with ideas for what to do in the area. Highly recommend this place for families looking to get away and enjoy the mountains in a peaceful setting!

This is our families 7th annual VRBO summer cabin trip! We all voted to go to this one again. We really enjoyed the rustic charm of the Wapiti Retreat. Deb the manager was so kind and caring. We saw so much wildlife. Relaxing on the deck and taking the amazing views. The property had room to spare for our group of 10.

Spacious home with a scenic view!
This home is very spacious with a scenic view! The pool table and loft were a big hit with the teens, and we enjoyed watching the wildlife from the front window. Deb was very kind and helpful. The drive into town wasn't bad at all. The only traffic jam we encountered was a herd of cattle crossing the road during a cattle drive!! Fun times were had and great family memories were made at this quiet and relaxing retreat!

Perfect for our family get-together!
We recently stayed at the Wapiti Retreat for our family get-together and had a wonderful time! The house was spacious and comfortable and worked perfectly for our 15 people. The setting is remote but gorgeous, with abundant wildlife and beautiful views. Out the huge front windows, we saw moose, deer, foxes, antelope with their young, and tons of birds. The hummingbirds and bluebirds were our favorite. The kitchen is well-equipped and spacious and has lots of counter space which made it easy to set out mealtime buffets. We spent the majority of our time in the large main living room and it was perfect for playing games, visiting, and watching wildlife. We took advantage of all the great trails right outside the house and used the space in front of the house for outdoor games. We had a really great time and the house worked perfectly for our needs. Deb is a considerate and helpful host and resource. If you come in June, I might recommend bringing bug spray to ward off mosquitoes during evening hikes. All in all, a wonderful and relaxing retreat. Deb made it easy and the house worked perfectly for our family get-together.

Looking forward to returning!
Perfect place for our family! 9 adults, 4 teenagers and one child. Rustic home. Kitchen so much bigger than photos & kitchen surprisingly stocked with everything you need to prepare meals for a big group! Lots of room for everyone to spread out. Pool table was a plus. The snow removal took longer than expected but I imagine this is to be expected in Colorado! Winter in the mountains!! Can't wait to come back in the spring or summer!

Magical Weekend!
We found just the right unique place for our unique celebration, meeting up with my daughter and a friend at the halfway point of their Continental Divide Trail hike through the Rockies from Canada to Mexico. The place was more than enough for our party of ten. From hikes with the dogs into the forest, to shooting pool in the basement, talking to the cowsand the antelope that roam through the area, to watching the Harvest Moon rise majestically over the Rockies, it was one “Wow“ after another. Great, friendly communication from Deb the property manager, good supplies and appliances, making it easy for our group to enjoy this amazing property. No disappointments here at all. Check out Mansker Station Pub and Pizzeria, about a 20 minute drive into Walden for great food and cocktails and awesome peeps and, if you’re lucky, some live music (kids can come too).

Great Family Reunion Spot
This large house perfectly accommodated our party of 17 (7 adults and 10 children ages 3 months to 16 years). If you like a rustic, remote setting, this is an ideal place for you. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and a serene, peaceful view off of the deck. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious with plenty of countertop space. Two refrigerators provide space for plenty of groceries. The TV and game room on the lower floor were a hit with the kids, and allowed the adults to have a space for quiet conversation in the great room on the main floor. As for activities, Buffalo pass is a easy way to get into the high country, and to Steamboat Springs, though the hi-way route is faster. The Rainbow Lake trail trailhead is about 2 miles farther up the road. The trail is moderately strenuous but a worthwhile hike. Take your fishing gear if you plan to stay a while at the lakes. All-in-all, we were very happy with the Wapiti Retreat and will probably come back in a few years for another stay.

Amazing!
We had a wonderful weekend at this beautiful property! Deb was very welcoming and incredibly responsive to any questions or concerns. The views of this home were amazing and they have gone out of their way to supply items to make it young child friendly. This is the perfect place for someone who group who is looking for experiences in nature with the comforts of home.

Great log home in mountains
Beautiful log home Deb was great was there when power went off and bridges washed out had to leave two days early because of bridges would go back anytime

Tom and his family were warm and thoughtful guests. Despite the rain, snow and loss of electricity and bridge closures they made the most of it. The Wapiti was left in great shape. Welcome back anytime !

Not what I expected
Very little hot water pressure. Something may need fixed because the water/water pressure would shut off randomly. Also some beds pictured were not included (bunk beds in one of the bedrooms). Lots of spiders everywhere, we killed 2-3 a day. Road/driveway was not snow plowed for us when we arrived. Was a very nice area but would not stay here again.

The water pressure was fixed while this group was here. We checked in on them everyday. The foreman's brother said everything was great with no water pressure problems after addressing the issue for them. All beds are present, we divided the bunk bed in the Beaver Room, no beds were missing. The day of guest arrival we were recovering from over 5 feet of snow the day before and the tractor/blower completed the driveway minutes after the guests arrived an hour before check in, they drove in as the tractor left. ?? We do deep cleaning between each booking and we have not found spiderwebs or spiders. We will however use an Eco-friendly spray throughout the house. This is a case of guests not reading the description before booking as this was an oilfield group of men who were not happy about the bed situation because the foreman's wife booked without reading the detailed descriptions of each room.

Amazing property! With amazing views!
This is a great property for large groups. We did have to share the property with three moose. The moose just hung out all weekend. The property manager was great as well. Took great care of us! Thanks Deb!!
