Quiet escape but close to everything you want

The openness and size of common spaces is LARGE, the lanai overlooks the golf course green with palm trees surrounding, the bedrooms with full baths are large, the kitchen is well-equipped. The saltwater pool with large hot tub (plus two large, nice/new Weber grills) are 50 yards away and kept impeccably clean, as is this entire Waikoloa property. This was the perfect space for our group of 7 adults plus other friends and family that stopped by.

Beautiful location Spacious house rental company very responsive. Studio hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived they fixed it the next day and made it right. Beautiful sunsets. Only real complaint AC was set at 78 and couldn’t get cooled to sleep kept resetting when you turned it down a real bummer for sleep tiny ants on counter but overall a great stay

This place could use some attention! The pictures make the place look like it’s newer and not as worn as it is now. (March 2024) Pros: great location in Waikola, easy walking distance to many places, the villa is right across from pool and bbq. The pool is not huge but was clean. Large rooms, privacy, w/d, kitchen is full. Fans are in each bedroom, shampoo/conditioner, towels, small beach towels. 2 beach chairs. Wi-fi. Carport was big enough for a large vehicle and visitor spots are very close. Cons: dirty rugs, dirty cushions on couches inside and outside. Bed mattress’ are all worn. Bedding needed washing. TV’s turned on/off (in the middle of the night!) and wouldn’t work at times. Wi-fi probable? Pics posted are definitely not updated. Courtyards had grass/weeds growing between rocks. No bbq or bench as pics show. A/C restriction wasn’t good. Got very warm!! The 3rd bedroom suite is NOT connected to the Villa. It is only steps away but you had to come thru the front door to be a part of the group. We stayed 11 nights, 6 adults. Didn’t see many kids. It was quiet and didn’t notice large noisy crowds ever. The book that is provided for info is outdated. We called a few places and they are out of business. The sign on the refrigerator about wi-fi was incorrect. We list all this not to be rude but to inform the next vacationers. We all agreed we wouldn’t rent this particular unit again but The Shores would still be a great location.

Family friendly condo split between friends

Really great location and condo. As mentioned in other reviews, the thermostat is locked so you have to go back and change it back to 75 every few hours. They don’t provide an abundance of dishwasher pods or laundry soap so we ran out on a 7 day stay. The washer gets stuck and has to be run, drained, and re spun. The guest suite air conditioner froze up and didn’t work a few days. There is 1 pack n play. Overall we enjoyed our stay, it was a great location with a beautiful view and access to the pool was great for our kids.

Great condo in perfect location

This is our 4th trip to the big island & 2nd time staying in Waikaloa. This condo was beautiful, a little dated but still beautiful, large, comfortable, & perfect for multi family vacationing. The only complaint I have is the AC like others have mentioned. It’s a little ridiculous to not be able to keep it cool in such hot weather. It only goes to 76 as the coolest & even then it defaults back to 80 every hour so when you leave & come back you have to manually turn it down again & at night. It gets steamy & uncomfortable. Also, if you have kids be mindful they won’t be able to play ball in the backyard as it backs up to lava & the ball WILL go over the shrubs into the lava before golf course & you can’t access it. So the kids will be inside mainly when at condo. Everything else is perfect, it’s right across from the pool, it’s close enough to ride bikes to the marketplace & to the beach for the sunset. The studio is a great spot for a small family with infant or anyone needing extra privacy from the main house. Oh! Another small issue is that there’s no main shower, only in the bedrooms so those staying in loft have to use showers in bedrooms & there’s no doors so no one can be in the bedrooms at same time. Those are the negatives. Everything else is positive!!

Relax and explore

Great location- close to so many amenities. We relaxed at the pool and nearby beach. Walked to shopping and were close enough to drive and explore so much on the island. There was not a bbq at the condo, but across the parking lot- close, but there were gatherings of large groups using, so our food we bought to bbq was cooked on stove and oven - worked fine. Overall a very comfortable place with lanai overlooking the golf course.

Come for my sons wedding and had a wonderful time. Love the big island.

Easy rental process. No problems at all. Would love to come back. Plenty of space for the 7 of us. Large kitchen. Beautiful Lani with views for days.

Not what is was advertised, temperature controlled by Host.

The property is outdated, not like the pictures that must have been taken when it was first listed. The temperature is controlled by the Host who has it set at 80 plus degrees and locked to not go below 76 degrees! The host is NOT interested in occupants comfort. Host controlled the temperature which was set to 85 degrees and occupants could only set it to 76 but every 30 minutes thermostat reset itself back to 85. Residence slept 8 people. Supplies were: 3 travel shampoo, 3 conditioner, total. Each person had 1 bath, 1 wash cloth, 1 hand towel! This was for $1000 a day, for 10 days. Each person had one pillow which was overstuffed and hard. Washer did not work, did get repaired after the weekend but only had three soap pods and not replenished. Dishwasher had only 3 soap pods. There were only 4 wine glasses. There was black mold all along the entry pathway. Patio furniture was old and one chair broken slats. The electric grill was dirty. Master Bath towel rack fell off the wall. The wood under the sink was rotted and there was a hole where "things" could enter. There were surveillance pods throughout the home that flashed red lights 24/7. There was a warning to Not turn them off. Host was not responsive to email. The kitchen had none of the normal things I have had in other rentals, plastic containers for food, aluminum foil, plastic bags, etc. for day trips etc. The list goes on and I have pictures but there's no place to post them. It felt like the host was not interested in the comfort of his guests, only minimizing his costs. That's why I gave it a 3. Management's response to questions and requests was, "That is up to the host and we have no control over that." We were not in the residence for most of the day but when we were there it was hot and it felt like your environment was being monitored and controlled. I will never come back to this residence again nor would I rent from this Host again.

Ironman Escape

This place is better than its photos - beautiful and spacious with a stellar view of the course and glimpse of ocean behind! We were right across from the pool and had excellent shopping experiences and a GORGEOUS beach - Anaeho’omalu - within walking distance. Make sure you bring your own cleaning supplies, paper products, etc., as those are either not provided or are minimal. Don’t forget to bring coffee if you have a late arrival!

Fantastic place!

We recently stayed at the villa and we had an amazing time. There were a total of 8 of us including 4 young adults. Plenty of bedding for everyone. Only real issue is that we could not set the temp lower than 75 deg, but other than that, I would highly recommend the villa.

Gorgeous, peaceful Hawaiian rental

We loved our stay here! Sitting on the lanai you could hear the luau music in the breeze. Immaculate & cool, right across from the community pool. Walking distance to a terrific beach. Highly recommend & we hope to come back some day.
