Let me start by telling you that I am the person that rarely accepts the first hotel room I'm given. Yes, my standards are pretty high and I want the full experience. This apartment knocked my socks off. The location is fabulous and our property manager arranged for a water taxi from the train station directly to the closest dock to the apartment. The building itself is discrete and don't show the beauty of the property. Once you are inside, you can either take 2 flights of stairs or an elevator directly up to the unit (it opens into the apartment). The front door and elevator both have secure keypads with specific codes to you so we never had to worry about brining keys.
The apartment itself is perfect. And let me be clear, it takes a lot for me to give something this rating. The floors, walls, decour, trim work, furniture, bathrooms, etc. rival what you would expect to see at a Four Seasons, St. Regis, or Ritz. No IKEA junk. Stunning. The linens on the bed were perfect and honestly my only complaints were the firmness of the beds (most people would be ok, but I like a more plush/pillow top) and the lack of paper towels/kitchen towels. Everything else was amazing.
This unit has 4 suites. 3 of the bedrooms have their own ensuite bath and one has a hall bath. Ironically, we put our kids in the two back ensuite bedrooms, and my in-laws in the suite off the kitchen (separated from the other 3 bedrooms). We took the room with the hall bath, which was fine since there was also a powder room.
The location was a short 5 minute walk to Chanel, YSL, Gucci, etc. - high end shops and also 10 min walk to St. Mark's Square. In the piazza you have a restaurant, 2 gelato stands, wine shop, & pizza carry out. In the next square over are many more restaurants, ATMs, cafes, etc. You can literally get around so easily but also feel tucked away and less touristy. I would highly recommend this apartment if you are staying in Venice.
