"After going through the front gate that should have locked I came by a dumpster full of stinking garbage. The small courtyard was filthy. The stairs going up to the rooms needed a good cleaning and refurbishing. After opening the door to the room I was surprised how small it was, 8’x8’? "What a little gem of a guest house this is, just yards from the shore of Lake Windermere opposite the marina and just a 20 minute walk from Bowness ( or a couple of minutes max by car ! ) Owners Susanne and Glenn are lovely warm friendly hosts and are very welcoming and more than happy to give you any help needed with info on the local area. The guest house is bright and beautifully clean with a slightly 'chintzy' decor, but at least it has character rather than the sterile corporate identikit...
