Gorgeous Sunsets

My family and I stayed 2 weeks over the Holiday. Excellent location just 5 minute drive to Cruz Bay (downtown and ferry). Definitely recommend renting jeep through the property management company. The pool was a relaxing place to unwind and recharge while the more adventurous explored every beach and reef of the island. Highly recommended from a regular Caribbean traveler.

Wonderful Stay in St. John

My family enjoyed our stay at La Collina for a week in July. The property is located above the Westin Resort and has great views of the ocean. The home has 2 master suites on the main floor and the pool is adjacent to the home. On the below level, there are 2 separate guest suites each with their own bathroom. The air conditioning worked well in all of the rooms. The large room in between the 2 master suites is not air conditioned but there are plenty of fans to make it more comfortable. You can't beat the location to the downtown area and the beaches.

Amazing location, Exceptional Property

La Collina was everything it was advertised to be and more. The house was gorgeous, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The rooms all have an AC unit in them, but the common spaces upstairs do not. My *only* complaint about this stunner of a property, is that I wished there was one more AC unit in these common spaces upstairs. We had fans, which certainly helped, but it did get a little warm when we were preparing meals. The ferry, the grocery store, and the downtown area are just a 3-5 minute drive away, and we highly recommend renting jeeps through the folks who manage La Collina as well. They made the pickup/drop off process very easy, and you need a Jeep or other 4WD vehicle to explore the island. I genuinely can’t wait to go back. This is the only place I’ll stay on St John.

Quiet Retreat

Just on the edge of town, off the main road, so little to no traffic. Beautiful view of Great Cruz Bay and Westin resort. All bedrooms have individual AC units, full bathrooms, large beds and very spacious! Large kitchen/living/dining room. The host has provided nearly everything you would need to prepare and serve meals. Beach chairs, beach towels, a cooler are all provided, making your stay all the more enjoyable. The pool is perfect for evening dips and just congregating with your group. The steps to the main level are steep. But, there are 2 parking areas, up top and on the lower level. Plenty of parking for 2 or 3 vehicles. This was our first ever vacation away from home. And La Colinna provided all of the comforts of home! Also, Kay is AMAZING! She was available to answer questions during our stay. Even checked in on us to see if we were enjoying ourselves!

The property is absolutely beautiful! The location is good, the house is clean with a well supplied kitchen. The pool is perfectly located that you can swim or lounge around and enjoy the gorgeous view of the bay. I would highly recommend this property.

Amazing views!

The photos of the house and views from it were spot on! The views of Cruz Bay and the ships were amazing! We lived the outdoor deck and spent our evenings and dinners out there. The bedrooms were big and spacious and the living area was plenty of room for our family of 6. We would definitively rent the house again when we return to St John! A great adventure!

Enjoyable home in St John

The home is a comfortable home for family and friends, with a very nice view. Home is clean and is well stocked . The pool is small which is fine when you are on a island with so many great beaches . Would stay here again .

Perfect mix of natural beauty, comfort, views, and convenience!

Property was beautiful and natural with amazing views of Cruz Bay from the home and the pool. Pool was perfect. Gorgeous flowers all around the home. We used the grill to make everything to avoid using the oven and keep the house cool inside. Home is conveniently located near all the activities/restaurants in Cruz Bay and the Dolphin market for groceries.

Summer Family Getaway

My family and I had an amazing week at La Collina! The place is much larger and nicer than the photos suggest, particularly the massive second story deck overlooking Great Cruz Bay! We enjoyed both quiet moments on the deck and in the pool, as well as fun-filled evenings when extended family staying at the Westin property below drove the two minutes up the hill to share a home-cooked meal and an evening together! Being from South Carolina, we are accustomed to central A/C in our homes. The four bedroom A/C units were fantastic, but we wanted more air movement in the main living space which is not air conditioned. Diane and her team immediately responded to our request and provided us with two extra stand-up fan units (and a bottle of No Natz insect repellent spray for the NoSeeUms - highly recommended!) to help make our stay much more comfortable! We cooked several meals in the kitchen and on the grill, enjoying both inside and outside dining. While the morning views from the pool and the deck are special, including catching a full rainbow one morning, the sunset views are sensational!! Our son, daughter and son-in-law had a great time traversing the island in search of the perfect hike and the perfect beach. The challenging hike to Rams Head was fun (and very doable for a wide range of family members) and had incredible views! However, the family favorite “don’t miss it” beach spot was Cinnamon Bay beach on the North Shore! Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and amazingly deserted beaches we’ve ever seen! We were very fortunate to secure this family get-away week at the last minute, as the island was shutting down for a second time just as we were leaving. The attentiveness of Diane and her team made our stay very welcoming, and we appreciate all the TLC provided! St. John and La Collina are definitely on our list of return locations!

Loved every minute

We planned this with shorter notice due to Covid and could not have been happier with the outcome. The house is definitely more updated and even nicer than pictures show. We could not have been more pleased with the perfect location close to town and amazing views just overlooking the Westin resort. I would recommend getting the rental agency to show you around when checking in only because there are a few quirks we have learned over time. Make sure the laundry room is fully latched and locked before bedtime so the doors don’t bang all night. The TVs are also a little complicated but a few days of trial and error and they are wOrking great(only for the kids to see sports because with this view TVs aren’t necessary). The porches are perfection. We barely spent any time in the den. The main room and kitchen don’t have A/C but with the front and back porches we didn’t really care. The 2 queen bedrooms are accessible through outside steps. Also fine for us since our kids are old enough. The pool is small but we used it daily. It’s great for an evening soak or a rousing game of Marco Polo. We feel so lucky to have picked this house and hope to come back soon.

big love for LaCollina

This house is actually way better than what it looks like on line. The only downside was the mosquitos. We didnt the first night and were eaten alive. After that though we prepared and were fine. Bedrooms were very comfortable, the views big and location was great. Thank you for offering this house on VRBO. We will be back the Mannings

Wonderful experience @ La Colina!

This rental property is an older home with beautifully updated bathrooms and kitchen, and very close to all the popular restraunts in Cruz Bay. The home is unique with its stone walls, and generous sized balcony porch with loads of room to gaze out over Great Cruz Bay. The lower level two bedrooms could use some paint and are essentially cut off from the main house amenities requiring outdoor steps to get to main house. But older teens would love the privacy. The upper lever master bedrooms are generous sized, with gorgeous views. It's important to note this is not a neighborhood you can go out and take a safe morning walk. Although traffic was rare, roads are very narrow and only room for one way traffic. We were all lunged at by a imposing black dog on a chain we aptly named Cudjoe, a few doors from the entrance to the community. Another, unleashed (friendlier) pit bull mix followed our friends one morning. Although the master bedrooms are air conditioned, the main living area/dining room was quite warm a few nights, and bugs got in through slits in the screen doors, which need replacing. Also important, the pool is smaller than it appears in pictures. It was a refreshing dip after a day at the beach though, and none of us were up for swimming laps, ha! Each morning, we spent some time cleaning all the leaves and plant debris as it would become dirty. A minor annoyance, I know but still something you don't want to be doing on vacation! There is a pretty, narrow view of the bay but is quite limited by the position of pool and surrounding vegetation. If you love animals, La Colina has a menagerie: a chicken with her 5 little chicks came by for daily visits, several Iguanas came poolside to make an appearance, and every morning deer were spotted grazing below the balcony. Be aware, even though we called well ahead as instructed, we had to wait 15-20 minutes to be picked up by Carribean Villas staff both arriving and leaving. Not fun when you are standing with your luggage, travel-weary and some strange, drunk man kept harassing us and asking us where we were staying, or when the ferry is leaving in 15 minutes. Other than the few aforementioned minor issues, we all loved the home and location.

But the view!

This property had all the charm you would expect from a casual island home. We were looking for something authentic and not over the top luxury. The rock interior walls to the wood shutters and doors added to the island experience. The property was older but clean and very well maintained and had everything we needed. The grounds surrounding the property were pristine and we loved the wildlife (deer (3), bunnies, the iguana and an occasional lizard). Fully equipped kitchen, linins and all our essential beach needs (chairs, coolers, etc.). What we liked most of all was the view from the 2nd floor deck. When not at the pool, around and about or at the beach we spent all our time on the upper deck. Great view of Great Cruz Bay, St. Thomas and beyond. The pictures of this property are as shown and were exactly what we expected. The only thing I would change is to cut back the foliage around the pool. It was quite over grown and a clear shot of Great Cruz bay from the pool would have been ideal. This is a perfect property for 2 couples - great floor plan. Rooms about the same size with private baths, ocean views and deck access, A/C worked great! This was our 5th trip to St. John and we are already planning for next year!

Paradise

I'm not sure what the actual translation is for La Collina, but as far as I'm concerned, it's Shangri-la. The house is perfect for our large group as everybody has their own space (and bathroom) when needed, but there are beautiful large communal spaces both indoors and out for sharing meals and revelry. We start and end everyday on the huge, well-furnished deck . The beds are comfortable with high-quality, crisp, cotton sheets and towels. We cook large meals of many courses while we are there and have everything we need to prepare, serve and enjoy these meals (from abundant pots and pans to a breathtaking ocean view). I look forward to my third year in a row; waking to birdsong, tropical floral aromas and gentle ocean breezes. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else on St John! Leah C.

Beautiful La Collina

Spectacular western views of Great Cruz Bay and incredible sunsets. Close to downtown Cruz Bay. Lush vegetation around the in ground pool. Spacious covered veranda. Well stocked kitchen and entire house. 2 large upstairs bedrooms with private baths. Outside shower. New Weber gas grill. Privacy on the veranda.

Heaven on Earth

We have vacationed at LaCollina four years in a row and look forward to going back again! From the moment you step inside the front door, you're on island time. LaCollina is comfortable, unpretentious and we immediately feel at home. The kitchen has everything you need which makes staying in and grilling a great dinner option. The location of LaCollina is fantastic - convenient to both the largest food market on the island and to a new, smaller market; an easy, short ride into town; yet still only 15 minutes to a string of beautiful beaches. After a day at the beach, we drive back through town and stop at our choice of several great beach bars, only to race back to LaCollina to enjoy a cocktail at the pool and the spectacular sunset. The porch cannot be beat any time of day whether it be sipping your morning coffee or watching for cruise ships, rainbows or the lights of St Thomas twinkle every night!
