Overall we had a nice trip to South Haven. We enjoyed the downtown area. The house had some pros and cons:Pros: host was responsive and communicative; pool was nice; garage was stocked with fun toys like pool floaties and bikes; house was clean and fairly well maintained. Cons: 1) The AC unit is not big enough for the house and we struggled the entire trip to maintain house temp. This made sleeping uncomfortable. It took 7 hours overnight to cool the house just 6 degrees. Even with drapes closed, the house cannot stay cool with that tiny AC unit. 2) There’s only one fridge. For big families that cook, that was a problem. 3) The house sleeps 16. In my book, there should be a table to seat 16. But the kitchen table is very skinny and had 10 chairs, which was tight for 10 and impossible for 16. 4) The house costs almost 2k/night and there was barely enough hand soap or dish soap for our stay. It’s silly and petty. Take 3 of the 6K we paid and give enough soap for 16 people to wash their hands and wash dishes. 5) The backyard is not exactly private. You basically share the backyard, including the fire pit, with half a dozen other families. 6) Just be aware that you basically have two parking spots for 16 people. All other cars have to go to overflow parking, which is just a few houses away but difficult when carrying in supplies and dealing with the elderly.
