The house is very cozy. A great little house in a good location. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck enjoying the ocean view. The Sonos system was a nice touch.
Some minor disappointments: parts of the house have not been upgraded in many decades, namely the downstairs bathroom and the kitchen counters (the grout is missing or just really gross - don't prep food on it), the cabinets and the kitchen supplies. The French press is broken and there are only a few dishes, and a hodge-podge of really old gadgets. There was no means to save food: cling wrap or foil or storage containers of any kind. Also, the posted "reminders" all over the house were a bit much. I couldn't go anywhere in the house without a nagging reminder about what to do or not do (ex. put shower curtain inside the tub, etc.). Felt like I was in someone else's space and they didn't trust my company.
Our real issues/concerns were in regard to the fireplace. We followed directions properly (the flu was open and we opened a living room window only), and yet every night the place still filled with smoke. It is not safe for anyone to sleep in the loft when a fire is going, as it eventually fills with smoke. This lead to another concern: THERE ARE NO WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS OR CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS IN THE HOME! They are there, but they do not function and it's very apparent why: you cannot have a fire in this home without tons of smoke. Incidentally all of our clothes - even the clean ones - all smell like smoke.
Lastly, the freezer works, but the fridge does not. Even on the lowest setting, our food was warm for several days and we had to throw out our dairy. Such a waste. It makes a constant low buzzing sound as though the fridge fan is broken.
So, even though we had a decent stay, we will not return to The Glass House.
