  • Designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, construction of the house began in 1860. Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

We loved this nice neighborhood and location right by Forsyth and Kroger. The place is better than in photos - it feels nice and fresh for being a lower level apartment. Good space for hanging out and nice bathroom. Easy to park right outside. The property mgmt company is super easy to contact.

What a delightful place to stay! It is centrally located so we were able to walk to all things Savannah. The place was spotless and spacious. Free on street parking was readily available. We would definitely stay here again.

We chose this location because it was close to our daughter’s dorm for SCAD move-in. The property has excellent access to SCAD buildings, historic downtown, and a grocery store. The layout was wonderful for our family of four, and we could all hang out on the sectional together in the evenings. The property was exceptionally clean and we had sufficient bedding for both beds and were very comfortable with the accommodations! The only negatives that we experienced during our stay were that the check-in process could’ve been a little bit easier. They had sent us the wrong code and we could not access entry right away after an 11pm airline flight. But the manager was quick to respond and incredibly helpful. Also, local coffee was offered for the coffee pot, but there were no filters. For a week long stay, we would’ve liked to have had an extra roll of toilet paper and extra trash bags. The dish washing detergent was a great addition. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay, and we will definitely be coming back!

Late May Stay

My wife and I spent three nights at the property in late May. The location was fantastic -- on a beautiful street of impressive historic homes close to the park and hop-on/hop-off free public shuttles and right across the street from the historic district's Kroger (We worried that might be a loud and unsightly imposition but the store's fenced parking lot is closest to the property and the actual store is set back a block, so there was nothing obtrusive about it.) Restaurants are within walking distance, many others are only a short drive away. Parking was not an issue. The “Savannah Cruzers” clear-roofed electric vehicle tour we took picked us up a block and a half from the apartment. Forsyth Park offers a farmers' market and an artists' market, on Saturdays, as well as green grass, shade, and people-watching. The apartment itself is tastefully decorated and well-maintained. The bed was firm but comfortable. There was some noise from upstairs, mainly the pitter-patter of small dog paws, but we expected that from previous reviews. Communication was great. I had to call about a wi-fi password, and that was handled quickly and effortlessly through texts. We truly enjoyed our stay and would certainly book again.

Perfect location for strolling Savannah

Property was perfect for us. We stayed 3 nights but could have easily stayed a week or more. Easy parking, well supplied with coffee for first morning. Could not have been better.

Wonderful apartment 2 blocks from Forsyth Park

Apartment was just as pictured online. Situated perfectly for exploring the Historic District on foot and in walking distance to restaurants. A Kroger grocery store is located across the street which was very convenient for purchasing snacks and bottled water. Only complaint was the smell of the water from the shower. It had a sulfur smell every time the shower was run. We were told by a local that is normal for the older homes but most have a filter to prevent it.

Great Location, Great Unit!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location was perfect: quiet street within walking distance of everything and a Kroger across the street. The apartment had everything we needed. The listing says this is on the first floor but it is really in a semi-basement (the bottom of the windows are at ground level) but that was fine for us. Residents on the floor above are quiet. Our only hiccup was that our entry code didn’t work but that was immediately taken care of when I called.

Fantastic Place

This was a great place to stay. Pictures and description are very accurate. If you want to explore the Historic district, the location is great. You can catch the trolley a short distance away or simply walk to many historic sites or restaurants. Highly recommend this place.

Happy New Year

Everything was just as promised. Great location. 1.Supermarket across the street. 2. Free parking right out front. 3. Clean. 4. Towels,pillows,sheets, utensils,TV,internet,wine opener etc... 5.You never move your car. 6. 28 minutes and you can walk to anything you desire. 7.It is a basement apartment. No issue. Ceiling might be low for tall people. We're 5 ft 6 & not a problem. Conclusion: We will be back to this apartment again.
