This house is truly beautiful -Regrettably, our group experienced just too many mis steps- perhaps as a new property this will improve, however it severely impacted our vacation and evoked a lot of stress.
1. Pool was advertised as heated and we paid an extra $300 for the heater to be turned on. Upon arrival, it was freezing cold -we called to advise and were told two hours later this house does not have a heated pool and the management company just found out about it! Telling two toddlers and a 6, and 8 year old they can’t use the pool was beyond a disappointment.
2. The HVAC was freezing cold upstairs and caused everyone who stayed in upstairs rooms to catch bad colds, downstairs it was super hot, fan was not working so had to open the door to the pool and then stress about a kid wandering to the pool at night. This was eventually fixed on the third day - after we slept horribly for two nights.
3. Gum spit in a drawer, no duvet cover on two of the beds , dirty coverlet on master, pool full of leaves, garbage can beyond overflowing outside.
4. Went to use the bikes and the locks would not unlock and 1 bike was unlocked but broken and unrideable. Yes this was fixed a day and a half later and after two calls - such a bummer.
5. Barn door to bunk room came off and fell on a six year old child. Yikes!
6. Management offered us a house 25 minutes away in Inlet, not near all of the plans we had already made in Seaside. We still are waiting for the pool refund and as polite as we have tried to be- they stopped replying after the first three calls . Maintenance was there two times , which we appreciated but also disrupted nap time. We could not find silverware or a wine opener and therefore could not eat dinner after an entire day of travel - we were told to go to Publix to go purchase our own . We asked for some sort of compensation and five days later still have not heard back from management after three texts sent.
The house itself was beautifully done and in a great location - a lot of kinks need to be worked out and I would not recommend this home for families with small children.
We had so much hope for a nice vacation and had to endure stress, sickness, disruption, and disappointment each day.
As a VRBO Owner, I would have at least offered compensation for all of this trouble. I am appalled I have to keep asking for it and am not getting a response- including the reimbursement for the “heating” of the pool.
