We recently updated our backyard landscaping with a sunny artisanal stone seating area, water feature, loads of flowers and greenery, with gas BBQ - bring your grillables and help yourself! And we just opened a FITNESS CENTER in the cottage above the garden!

SUSTAINABILITY: Being in California we try to conserve water but if you're staying five nights or more, use our energy-efficient, greywater-producing washing machine, and dryer - no charge. Our washing machine waters our front yard! Electricity is courtesy of our solar panels. We have a low-flush toilet in the studio.

GUEST SERVICES: We (owners) live onsite upstairs. We respect your need for quiet and privacy but are always available to help with anything you need.

A seven-minute picturesque stroll to quaint but active West Portal with multiple eateries and eclectic shopping, with MUNI train lines for a 4-minute ride to the Castro, 11 minute ride to Powell (downtown SF). Or transfer after 6 minutes at Civic Center for BART for regional destinations, e.g. San Francisco Airport, 29 minutes. A cab from the airport costs about $60. We're about 2 miles from the UCSF Parnassus campus.

West Portal features numerous opportunities to hike through off-the-beaten-path, non-touristy neighborhoods in Forest Hill, Saint Francis Wood, and also Mount Davidson for stellar views of the entire bay. Easy ride (or 45-minute walk) to the San Francisco Zoo and the Pacific Ocean.
