Riddled with bed bugs or fleas
Generally this is an older, dingier rental. The carpeting is old and stained and because it is a basement unit it is quite dark. Even so at the price point it was perfectly sufficient for what we needed and I was prepared to handle any deficiencies UNTIL the third morning I woke up with bug bites all over my body. I checked the sheets and found mystery bugs in the sheets with me. Terrified of it either being bed bugs or fleas, I immediately packed up and left, but even days later after washing all of my items I'm still scared that my entire house has now been contaminated with bed bugs. The affordability was not worth the stress of potential contamination.
Beyond that the apartment was stocked with mostly what we needed though I had to contact the host for some basics like garbage bin liners, batteries for a remote, and paper towels. She was able to get them to me immediately. Overall the host was really kind and responsive until VRBO contacted her on my behalf asking for some sort of recompense for the bugs, after which there has been no response.
