Our family very very nice time we start with a rocky start because of hurricane Erin so we lost a day but we went down on Sunday and we were able to thoroughly enjoy Monday through Friday and then leaving early on Saturday

Nice but needs repairs!

We really enjoyed the house and loved the layout but there were a few things that were not quite up to par with this house. We arrived and found a broken chair on the top floor, no big deal and we let the host know about it. Just surprised it wasn’t reported or removed before our arrival. There was also broken glass on the middle deck beside the hot tub, not a huge issue because it wasn’t where people would walk but still it didn’t look good. Looked like a drinking glass. We loved the hot tub but the cover was extremely cumbersome to take on and off as there wasn’t any kind of assist or mechanism to easily remove and replace it. There was water damage and/or mold growing in the ceiling of the upstairs bathroom and the sliding glass doors to the house all needed repair or replacement because they would not nock and a stick was the only thing keeping them locked. Also several of the bedroom doors did not lock and wouldn’t stay shut as they didn’t have the hardware needed for them to close and latch. Nice house, it just needs some attention and care.

Beautiful beachfront views, TLC needed

Great ocean views from living room, dining room, and kitchen! Top floor was very nice and we loved being oceanfront so we could easily walk to the beach! Dining room and living room furniture was perfect. We expected the house to need a little bit of attention and updates, as most beach houses do, no big deal. However, this house needs more cleaning and updating than expected. Our biggest areas of concern included, the half bathroom ceiling on the main floor was completely covered in mold, several ourdoor chairs were broken (one was split in two just laying on the deck), most pans and knives were so rusty they were unusable, and the bottom bunkbed was unusable due to the mattress netting/webbing that was hanging down from the top bunk. This house has a ton of potential but I wouldn't recommend it until the owners do a walk through and fix these issues.

Enjoyed Our Stay

We travel from the northeast to OBX every year with our family of five and another family of five - 10 of us all together. We were thrilled to find a house on the beach and with a pool this year! The house is as-described in the listing, with a couple of exceptions. Positives – Easy walk on the path over a small dune to the beach. Decently sized inground pool and loved that it had its own gated & fenced area. Good layout for our group size, with bedrooms spread between all 3 floors. Bed Linens & towels were included. Newer kitchen that was well-stocked (fell in love with that faucet!) Could use improvement - The main entrance with the keypad to enter was EXTREMELY hard to lock. The latch was stuck in the door and it took a lot to get it to release so that we could actually latch and lock the door. That needs to be replaced. The upper “screened-in deck” area actually has zero screens, so that was surprising. The lighting for the pool would not turn on during our visit, nor was there outside lighting that we could find to turn on for that area. The ice maker in the in the fridge doesn't work (though there were plenty of ice cube trays – we ended up buying ice instead). Could use a thorough cleaning, including dusting. It’d be great to have a table with an umbrella or some sort of covering in the pool area to guard against the sun. Besides the door lock, nothing was a big issue. It’s a beach house & we weren’t expecting perfection. Overall, we enjoyed OBX this year!

4 night beach trip

House had plenty of room for our family of 6. Location to the beach is good. Less than 5 minute walk over the dunes. Pool was a hit with the family. Unfortunately the light doesn’t work so limited evening swimming. No lights in patio area. Put all food in the upper cabinets or you will meet the ants. The house is in need of some minor updates/upkeep items. But we enjoyed our stay.

Big family vaca!

It was our first gaming vaca since the kids and grandkids!! Ages from 11 mo to 60 yrs! Lots of amenities in the area. The house, pool, beach were all awesome! We were blessed with great weather! Rooms are kinda small, and bathrooms are small too. Kitchen was fully furnished with all our needs! Bring your own TP, paper towels, beach towels, and cooking spices. Owner is fabulous to communicate with! No issues at all. Neighbors can be a bit loud, but the house is fairly tight, and a white noise machine helped with the baby. The hot tub was to die for! Overall … we would love to return annually! Great host, great location, great rental home.

Great Location - Would Recommend

Great location - oceanfront property in a quiet part of OBX. can pretty much get to any location in OBX in 1-1.5b hours, so i thought it was the perfect location for exploring the area (just be aware its about 25-30 minutes to the grocery store, but there is a smaller market right down the street) Hosts were great, very responsive to any questions we had There is definitely some wear and tear on the property, but its a beachhouse so that is to be expected. Kitchen is very well stocked, cant think of anything we needed that wasn't available, although having a few extra kitchen towels would have been nice my only real complaint is that we had some issues with the master 2nd floor bathroom leaking onto the bunk beds in the room below. Also had an issue with the window leaking in one of the other bedrooms during a heavy storm so while i cant give 5 stars, i would certainly recommend staying here, especially if you are looking for a true oceanfront property to stay at

Excellent stay

This was our first time staying in OBX. The property was easy to find, checkin was easy and communication with the property manager was great. Inside, the number of bedrooms was awesome and there were 3 full baths, two being en suite. The house was clean in average condition for oceanfront property. Kitchen was well stocked and linens were provided. The dunes are very tall which makes it hard to hear the ocean from the house and the walk to the beach can be challenging. Location is more secluded but that’s what I always look for. Overall, we had a good time!

Excellent!

We brought our 2 daughters and my mom to the beach for the first time. This house was absolutely perfect for us. We have never had a house with a personal pool before and it was awesome. We came 2 days after a hurricane so there were a few hiccups but the owners were quick to communicate and fix the issues. We felt safe the entire time we stayed there and the walk to the beach was just over a dune. I loved all the bathrooms and having our own washer and dryer. The view of the sunset and moonrise from the deck was priceless. We got so many great photos. We would definitely rent again for our next vacation.

Great family vacation with some hiccups

The house was great, minus a couple of things. It appeared a previous renter had damaged or disabled all, but one of the bedroom door handles from locking or shutting at all. We were able to fix one or two of those. There were some loose deck balusters on the top floor - a safety issue that should be fixed ASAP. Tropical Depression Idalia came through during our stay. This led to some extreme leaks and water in the house - soaked the bottom floor of the house - which then led to a strong odor down there. Lots of work needs to be done for intense weather situations. That being said, during the rest of our stay, the house was a great spot for a large family vacation together. The pool was lovely, the walk to the beach was fine with the little ones, the house was generally pretty clean, and it was a comfortable house for us all. The communication with the owners, particularly Deborah was very helpful. We accidentally left a basket of items, and she worked hard to help us secure those items, and quickly.

Great location, beautiful beach

In its day great house. It needs some maintenance. The light in microwave didn’t work. I had to use a flashlight to cook. You need brighter and/or new lights on third floor. There are nails sticking up on the stairs. Someone could get hurt. There are balasters that are not attached and the rail on the third floor facing west is not secured. I mentioned to the cleaning ladies that you needed light bulbs. They key pad to enter unit is very corroded and we had a difficult time setting our code and opening the door. We had beautiful weather and we were with family and had a great time

Beautiful views; secluded beach; quiet town

This was our first visit to Salvo, and we absolutely loved it. The house had everything we needed for a great week at the beach. The keyless check-in and check-out process was so easy and convenient. The views of the expansive dunes from every level are stunning, and the beach views from the top floor are wonderful, especially at night. Being oceanfront was so convenient. The walk over the dunes is significant, but very doable, even for less mobile members of our group. We have never stayed at a beach with so few people. Every day, we had 100 yards or more of space on each side with no other people, and there were never people in front or behind of us. You can't see any of the houses from the beach (because of the high dunes), so it really felt like we were nearly alone on a remote beach. The water and waves were great. There were a couple very windy days where regular umbrellas wouldn't work and sand blew pretty hard, but folks who had Sun Ninja / Neso style tents had no issues and closer to the water the sand blowing wasn't an issue. We would absolutely come back to this town, beach, and house!

House Needs Some TLC

House needs a good cleaning! Furniture in living room very stained and rugs should all be replaced! Spent first part of arrival cleaning. Decks are old and upper level needs to be replaced not safe! Good power washing in shower much needed. Not worth the price! Walk to the beach longer than expected and trail needs to be cleared of cactus and natural debris. $500 deposit hold on this house WOW should get my refund this week as I cleaned better when I left than I found it! Have used Vrbo many times but will reconsider in the future.

Family getaway

Inside of house was definitely great. Porches and wood furniture need cleaning as some mold/stains on third floor. Realize weather but a good power wash should take care of that Kitchen well stocked. Newer appliances. Dishes Enough parking in tandem. Great neighborhood First time in outer banks. Distance to beach was fine but did not realize the elevation. Recent knee replacement. But made it over sand dunes every day. Yea! Want to return next year

Incredible Property and Service

This rental not only saved our family vacation from being cancelled, but it made it even better. Our previous rental cancelled and David saved the day. He responded quickly, provided recommendations on things to do, places to eat, and places to go. The property is gorgeous with an amazing pool and even more amazing views! It is a short walk to a (basically) private beach. If you have the ability to book this property, I highly recommend you do so, and FAST.

Very relaxing week

Enjoyed this large house with a well equipped kitchen; great hot tub; beautiful pool; comfortable living and dining room that was large enough to accommodate all of us; and tasteful decor. Didn’t have any problems but owner was quick to respond to questions. We enjoyed the poker table and local activities, i.e. bike rentals, putt putt, aquarium, shopping, and the local restaurants. Being right on the beach, the houses all look like they could use a little tender loving care in spots but the hot tub was automatically checked mid week and has pretty wood floors and looks like relatively new furniture. Thanks for the hospitality, David.

Heated Pool!!

The property was a nice place to stay. 9 people total, 5 adults and 4 kids. The property worked well for us. We enjoyed the heated pool in April. Fit and Finish on the property wasn't perfect, but what seasonal beach house is. I would recommend upgrading the outdoor furniture and grill but other than that it was a great stay!
