Spring Break

We had trouble with the heated pool, which we paid an extra 500 for. We messaged them on Monday and never recieved communication until Friday. Also we couldn't use the TV by the hot tub since it was on a different wifi which we did not get the password to. There were 2 broken faucets and the grill was disgusting and onky 2 burners worked..we communicatec thos all through email and never got a response.

Not up to our expectations!

Overall, the location of the vacation home was fine. The trek to the beach was not ideal but we did it. The view from the top two floors were great! However, the accommodation itself fell short of our expectations. The house could have been cleaner, the furnishings were outdated and not as luxurious as we had anticipated for the price paid. The kitchen lacked some basic utensils and food prep items that would have made cooking easier. Additionally, there were issues with one of the Dishwashers and the kitchen sink faucet but having the second dishwasher we didn't have an issue, which the property management promptly addressed but was not fixed during our stay. The service provided by the property manager was friendly and responsive, which was a positive aspect of our experience. However, considering the premium price we paid for this rental, we expected more in terms of amenities and overall comfort. In summary, this home was extremely basic for the the price we paid. Unfortunately, we won't consider this home in the future for our annual family vacation.

Beautiful House w/ Fantastic Kitchen

We very much enjoyed our stay. I gave it 4 stars because the volume on the television in the living room did not work and the hot tub needed added water to function properly. Also the yard was full of painful sand burs that got in our dogs feet every time she went ootside.

Family Vacation

This property as listed is a beautiful home in Salvo. The ocean and surrounding scenery are gorgeous! The house is exceptional in providing the right number of bedrooms for our family. We had such a good and memorable vacation. That being said there are a number of items in the home that could use an update. It is sad that the home is in need of the loving care that a home like this should receive. There was an infestation of cockroaches. It was so bad that my 3rd grade grandson shared it in his vacation report at school! The appliances could use an update. There were two dishwashers in the beautiful kitchen but the one on the right was broken. There were pieces laying in the top of it. The refrigerators had a number of missing shelves in the doors and could use an update. The other things I can list in a letter to Shore Details as I am sure they would like to know so they have an opportunity to fix them. Thank you so much for a beautiful vacation.

The location was perfect, but…

The location was perfect, but the cleanliness of the house was disappointing. In addition, there was a lack of typical amenities like hand soap in all of the bathrooms. In addition, it would’ve been thoughtful to have beach chairs and umbrellas available for guests for free given the amount of money spent on the house.

Excellent view!

Perfect for you and your extended family. The furniture, inside and out as well as the decor was in excellent condition and provided such a warm nautical vibe. Music by the pool, awesome game room and amazing top floor nighttime star gazing! OBX - Salvo perfection.

The perfect vacation home!

My wife and I stayed at Farrow Shores with 4 of our adult daughters and their families in early July 2022. What a home! From the 6 master bedrooms suites, decks everywhere, giant kitchen with two of every appliance, the pool, hot tub, the adult AND kid game room, the pool table, the elevator, and the proximity to the beach (right through the dunes!) - this is a house to be lived in and have fun in. Yes, the home shows some wear and tear because it is LIVED IN by the owners and who knows how many families and groups so you should not have the expectation that it will be brand new. Even so, it was nicely decorated and appointed and so, so comfortable. Large enough to sequester in your bedroom suite or other places in it, yet cozy enough when everyone wanted to be together (surprisingly a lot!). We'd recommend this property wholeheartedly and hope to come back.

Great vacation home

The house was large and spacious. All rooms were winners. Every adult had a king size bed and there were bathrooms connected to every adult room. The kitchen was a dream...2 refrigerators, 2 ovens, 2 dishwashers and 4 waste cans! Long and large kitchen island so that multiple people could work in the kitchen at the same time. Grateful for an elevator!! Although oceanfront, it was a long walk to the beach but good exercise. The kids loved the swimming pool, jacuzzi, game room and theatre. Most of the adults did as well. We never have stayed at the same place twice but we are tempted to this time.

Awesome place

Just as we thought it would be. Plenty of room for our family. Elevator is a plus. Large kitchen, dining table and comfortable family room. Kids loved the pool table, adults loved the pool. Watched movies every night in theater room. A little scarce on welcoming amenities for that size property- no soap, hand soap dispensers, only 3 rolls of TP for 8 bathrooms. But we got by. Loved location, great walk over dunes to a near deserted beautiful beach, Kids wondering when we’re going back!

Awesome stay at the Outer Banks!

Just as advertised! Lots of room and absolutely beautiful views! The elevator was so nice to transport all our gear. The heated pool was a big hit. Would definitely stay here again.

Ups and downs

For the most part our stay was good. It was very well maintained inside but subpar outside for the money that is charged. The kitchen was well stocked, the bathrooms very clean, and beds were comfortable for a rental house. Until the last two days, when the cockroaches began to come out of hiding which, of course, disconcerting. Tons of seating for dinner and relaxation was much appreciated. The movie room and the billiards were a hit. Outside, the hot tub cover is a mess, it is in tatters and could easily tear more without two people gently putting it back in place. Not typical for a high end rental. Also there were toys and rusty/broken chairs just thrown in a heap near the outside shower. We love the fact that they want to supply those items but perhaps reviewing protocol with regards to these items would help the next renters. Lastly, we were not aware of such a late entrance time. Being a veteran of 16 years in the Outer Banks for spring break, this was new to us. My wife called to see if we could get in a little early since we have two young children, and one with a major heart condition. Mariah’s tone was to say the least, unpleasant when talking with my wife. We went to lunch and explored the area, after that we went to see if the house was done being serviced and if the door would open to facilitate my daughter getting her medication on time, it was. Mariah chastised my wife 3 times about entering the home before 5:00PM, once was enough. She needs to be retrained when it comes to customer interactions. She also blamed us being in the house as the reason there were no billiard balls or a dust pan and called back to reiterate that point . Really, us coming in a hour or two early changed those facts, I think not. What I will say, is that the rest of your staff was polite, and quick to respond to our needs. With a few tweaks to this property, it would be worth the money being charged. I want to restate, every staff member we interacted with except Mariah was pleasant and helpful.

Making Memories

We went as an adults only couples family vacation, this home had fabulous views with deer, sunrises and gorgeous Ocean views! It was perfect with everyone having their own Suite, The kitchen Dining area was made for Families to gather play games, and good food! We even had room for some Dancing! One couple in our group stated this was their Dream vacation. Even in November the temps were just right to enjoy a walk on the beach to relax and rejuvenate!

We had a great time at Farrow Shores. The house was very comfortable for everyone and super clean. The kitchen was well appointed and the layout was perfect for our group. We would definitely stay there again!

Lovely place!

The place was very nice and clean. Very close to what you see in the pictures. Beds were comfortable. Enjoyed the sunrise each morning with a hot cup of Joe. The walk is not bad to the beach, maybe 2-3 mins. Only thing we had a problem with was the movie/theater room's sound system did not work. One thing I would suggest is that they leave instructions on how to use/set-up the surround sound for it as well as have one universal remote for the TV's in the house instead of multiple, just for more user friendly. Other than that one hiccup, the place was a wonderful place to stay with a beautiful location! Will definitely keep in mind for future trips :)

Outstanding Week

My wife and I spent the third week of October ’21 at this beautiful beach house with my brothers and sister and their families. It was awesome. It was all good. The house, the hot tub and pool, the deck, the beach. Even the weather. The movie theater and pool table were really nice but the weather was so nice we spent most of the week outside or on the fourth floor cooking and dining. Really enjoyed the sunrises and full moon from the deck. I don’t think my wife and I turned the tv on all week. It was nice having all those master bedrooms, two refrigerators and dishwashers, two washers and dryers and the elevator also came in very handy.

Great stay but could be better with minor improvements

First I’ll say we had a great time and the house had everything we truly needed. The pool was fantastic for the kids and adults loved that they could take early walks on the beach just from the backyard. The elevator made getting moved in and out much easier. We had a minor issue with the bed sheets: one bedroom had smaller fitted sheets than the mattress, and we didn’t realize till we were going to bed that evening so had to spend a night without a proper bed. Luckily management came by in the morning with what was missing after I emailed. The kitchen is fantastically large, but seemed to be missing several common items like a set of measuring cups, and the 1 can opener took 5 adults to figure out how to work (an electric one would have been great!). Also the shelves in the refrigerator door were broken, limiting how much we could store in them. We found some areas that needed additional cleaning from the last group also: a kitchen drawer had cutting boards that reeked and a lot of furniture pads clearly had hair from previous pets/guests. We couldn’t find a broom anywhere and so bought a swiffer, we wanted to be able to clean up the kitchen some after meal. Some basic cleaning tools around the house would have been helpful. Overall we had a great experience and would return.

Great family get away

Ocean Dream is a beautiful house with great amenities and an outstanding location. The overall impression is great, but premises could benefit by some additional attention from the property managers. Overall a very good experience for our family.

Great house

The house was great. There were a couple of issues like the pool lights not working and one of the microwaves didn’t run. Management came and fixed microwave. We didn’t call about the pool lights because we weren’t out there at night. There was plenty of room for all of us. Everyone had their own bathroom. Weather was great. Mosquitoes are plentiful so make sure to bring OFF or citronella candles. Pool could have used a rail for us folks with bad knees. Manager take note of that. Beach was gorgeous. Elevator came in handy cause there’s 4 floors. Kids all had a great time. Pool was kept up. If it filled with sand, we called the office and they sent out the pool guy. Great home! Great vacation.

Family vacation

Beautiful views, wonderful beach! House was exactly what was needed…comfortable rooms, kitchen with two refrigerators, ovens and dishwashers. Communication from property management company on check in and check out process very clear. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back to Salvo in the future.

Great house for a big group

Everyone can find their own space in this house and was quite clean. Kitchen is well equipped for actually making homemade meals. Even has a crockpot and waffle iron. Theater room was fun and pool table popular. Management was receptive to contact and feedback but make sure the pool deck drain has been cleared of soil and weeds. We couldn’t help but track mud into the pool because of the overgrowth there.

Great location, dirty pool area

The location is great and has high 4th floor common area to take in great views. Inside was spacious. The biggest drawback is the pool area. Its got weeds growing along drainage area so it gets muddy/dirty. This makes the pool itself become dirty very quickly. There was no pool service to come in during the week so by Wednesday the pool was almost unusable. We saw pool companies coming to neighboring pools mid-week. The pool toy closet is disgusting and full of broken moldy toys. Rental units next door had nice individual chairs they could carry to beach with backpack straps. At this unit, there were only two usable beach chairs that were embarrassing and the rest were rusty and broken. The charcoal grill made grilling a 45minute process instead of just turning on a gas grill quickly. The hot tub is also in garage area away from everything. If it wasnt so expensive, it wouldnt be as concerning but for the premium price youd expect a premium experience. Luckily it wouldnt take much to make it a 5 star experience.
