We all had a good week and a good time at the Cottage. Your house is well suited for our stay, and we appreciate all the amenities you provided. The interior was clean, the kitchen well equipped (except we could have used one or two small pots), the bathrooms tidy, the bedding comfortable and the sitting areas relaxing. Access to the lake was a convenient and easy walk to the dock. We took advantage of the Kayaks and Paddle boards. We appreciate your hospitality and quick responses to our questions.

july 4th vacation week

We stayed at Cottage on the Cove the first week of July, 2025. The property was lovely. All the bedrooms were cozy with comfortable beds and plenty of room. Everyone had a blast witht he pingpong table, games and swimming. We had a few very hot days, however Tunnel Creek Winery was 13 minutes away, as well as antique shops, and restaurants. Carols Collectibles in Roxboro is a must visit. Walking through her maze of old artifacts many from well known historical figures is mind boggling. if she is not busy she might show you the old movie theatre upstairs. It opened in 1929. Fishing and swimming was pretty good from the dock and from a kayak/paddle board. There is an urgent care within 15 minutes from the house as well as grocery, bait, fast food including mexican, and wineries.

Cottage on the cove is one of the best homes we’ve stayed in. The house is extremely well stocked, the lake is gorgeous, with really great fishing, and there is enough around in the surrounding area to venture out for days trips if needed. We highly recommend staying here.

Paradise in the Cove

Love this tucked away sweet paradise! We stayed here when the property first began VRBO and loved the upgrades! He fire pit was relaxing on a cooler May night!Thanks so much for the personal touches throughout making it feel so homey!

Wonderful Lake Stay

Absolutely fabulous views of the lake and well furnished both inside and out. Comfortable furniture and excellent mattresses and pillows. Hosts were easy to communicate with and very responsive. We will definitely stay again!

Relaxing birthday weekend at the Cottage

Great views, well appointed and comfy! Loved the beds and linens, the jacuzzi tub, and the PS4! The loft view was stunning and quite romantic on a rainy day. Will definitely be back!!!

Amazing host, wonderful property

Kristen is truly one of the best hosts I’ve had the pleasure of talking to. She was so accommodating and responsive to us. Everything went off without a hitch and we had a wonderful time. The property was absolutely gorgeous. It is as advertised, and even more magical in person. Everything was clean, spacious, and extremely well decorated. We had such a wonderful stay. It is truly a 5 star property for a reason. I can’t recommend it enough.

Perfect family getaway!

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Cottage on the Cove, and it truly felt like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, the welcoming atmosphere enveloped us. The cottage was thoughtfully equipped with all the little necessities that often get forgotten on trips, making our stay incredibly comfortable. One of the standout features was the delightful scent that greeted us upon entering—fresh, clean, inviting (I attribute that scent to the *real* wood floors!) It set the perfect relaxation tone for our getaway. The owners clearly put a lot of thought into every detail, ensuring that guests have everything they need for a relaxing stay. The views from the cottage were simply breathtaking. Waking up to the stunning view of Lake Mayo each morning was a highlight of our trip. To having coffee on the deck watching the fog roll across the lake in the mornings, fishing off the dock and kayaking in the afternoons, to sitting around the fire pit at night. It was exactly what we were looking for in a family vacation. We can't recommend Cottage on the Cove enough for anyone looking for a quiet, serene and well-appointed retreat.

Fabulous girls’ weekend!

Location was great only 10 minutes from town. Plenty to do, lots of activities rain or shine. Fishing was outstanding and was even able to use Instacart for groceries and more bait.

The BEST Place We Ever Rented!

My husband & I and two friends have rented many VRBO & other places over the last 35 years. This Cozy Cottage on the Lake is the best place we have ever stayed in terms of location, comfort & cleanliness. The beautiful cottage is situated on a hill overlooking the lake. We didn't see any other houses or people on the lake for the whole week. The peace, beauty & solitude were fabulous! One morning the lake was shrouded in fog & it had a lovely, other worldly "feel." This cottage is exceptionally well supplied & comfortable. The linens & mattresses are top notch. The house is sparkling clean & the decor is lovely. We have stayed in some very nice rentals over the years but this Cozy Cottage on the Lake is just incredible. The host, Kristen, was immediately responsive to two questions we texted to her. We are already looking forward to a return visit. If you're considering this place, book it! It is an outstanding value for the money.

Comfortable, peaceful and relaxing cottage

Cottage on the cove was very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. We were a group of 7 adults with a dog. I enjoyed fishing off the dock catching 2 large cat fish weight about 3 lb and 3 middle size of 1.5 lb and a small large mouth bass and played ping pong in between. Others enjoyed kayaking and a paddle boat and bird watching. .House was exactly as listed, gorgeous backyard looking at the lake. The property manager was very kind and responsive.

Fabulous Home for Families!

Setting, Setting, Setting! Privacy perfection. What a beautiful view, home, and amenities. Top notch location, beds, bathrooms, game room, extras, outdoor sitting areas, and pristine patio furniture everywhere. I’ve stayed in many VRBO‘s and this was by far the most well-maintained outdoor sitting areas. Host was amazing! I would’ve rated five stars however the beach area is not for wading or swimming. Very mucky, murky and floating algae. Of course our dogs didn’t care however be aware they will be very dirty if they jump in.. Disappointed that we could not jump in the water/beach with our dogs. We paddle boarded to a cleaner area to jump in and swim. This would be an excellent fishing lake, but we were not there to fish. Seriously, beautiful home and fabulous vacation!

Relaxation with a view!

Lots of ways to relax here. Kayaks provided which my husband and daughter used multiple times. Awesome firepit area. Nice hammock to relax in. Very comfortable beds. Everything you need is provided. Mayo State Park is close by too. We went canoeing there and swimming. Local restaurants with great food. Friendly people.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

This was our second vacation at "Cottage on the Cove" and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The house is located in a quiet private cove and is fully stocked (inside and out) with everything and anything you could possibly need (towels, TP, spices, coffee, games, etc.). The house is beautifully decorated and the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The firepit area is located in the shaded backyard and made for a great place to sit during the day (when we weren't on the water). The lake itself has great fishing and swimming and we spent most days/evenings enjoying both. Communication with the owner was very easy and you can tell they take pride in their home and making a great experience for their guests. We will definitely be back and are already looking forward to our next stay,

Morning Coffee and Beautiful Birdsong

Our family had an amazing time at this beautiful and well appointed property. Our teenagers unplugged and enjoyed every minute we were there. They are already asking to go back. My husband enjoyed the hammock and I loved having my coffee each morning in this beautiful and private setting. The birdsong was amazing. Thank you to our wonderful hosts! We felt so welcomed and dream of returning.
