Best kept secret in Texas
I never write reviews but this spot warrants it. If you’re headed to Round Top or anywhere in the vicinity there’s only one place you should stay. It’s simply the best. From the location, to the coolness of the decor, to the comfortability of the beds, to the magnificent pool, to the stellar communication with Matt the owner and Nigel the groundskeeper aka the unofficial mayor of the town… Flophouze ranks amongst the most memorable spaces I’ve ever stayed. My only regret is telling you people about it because it’ll increase the likelihood I won’t be able to get a booking next time I pass through.

Funky and fun idea for a boutique hotel. you have a couch, a bathroom, a bedroom and a kitchenette with microwave, sink and some basic dishes. Back porch looks out onto a picturesque cow pasture. You have a hammock and firepit for hanging out and relaxing. There is a hot tub and BBQ pit on the property. Containers are painted with murals and offer a great chance to try out his tiny house concept. What to know before you go: 1) The cows mix and mingle freely amongst the containers, so watch your step in the grass. 2) their are no blackout curtains. This means the motion activated lights that come on when the critters move around at nights or from car lights are shining into your bedroom. Thicker curtains should be on their list. Their are QR codes to work everything from the heat to the coffee pot, so you need to find those in the kitchen. They have TINY writing so you may need to look twice to figure it all out. There are lots of ports for charging devices. There is no TV or radio, just a record player, so bring your own book, magazines, or ipad if you want entertainment besides the cows. There isn't much in the area for breakfast, so keeping some food in the little fridge and making do may be a solid plan. Same with beverages and snacks. You are a good distance away from these items if you don't bring them.

Great unique stay !
Such a Unique experience loved it!! Only small complaint was they didn’t clean up the animal droppings I get it, it’s on a farm but just wish they would be better about that around the actual containers Otherwise it was FANTASTIC the beds were AMAZING decor so cute and the record player was so nostalgic for us we bought one when we got home ! Would definitely stay again!

It was very serene and quaint. The heated pool is a nice touch, and it was awesome seeing the cows grazing right outside of our container. It was also so much fun walking around the grounds seeing all of the interesting objects which ranged from cool airplane parts, a decommissioned mechanical bull, and a hodgepodge of fun items.

It is so peaceful and quiet. Cows in the pasture behind the rooms. Fire pits for each room with sitting areas for making s’mores or warming by the fire. No TV, but has WiFi and old school record players with plenty of classic vinyl to choose from. Cute shipping container pool! Comfy, fluffy beds and pillows for a good nights rest

Unique, clean, comfortable and well run. Be sure and read the AC instructions on the wall as getting them to cool is a little different. Once going the ACs were awesome. The beds and linens were very comfortable. Responsive and courteous management. Close to all the antique/Round Top sites. Would stay again and recommend.

We have discovered one of the best places ever, and I'm honestly worried to write this review and get the word out. I'm worried that once others find out about this place, we will have a hard time getting availability for a return visit. This is place is horrible, I don't think anyone wants to stay here. Just kidding. This place is absolutely amazing, we can't stop talking about it. My husband of 23 yrs and I wanted to visit Round Top, TX and ran across this really cute place on Expedia. Everything here is completely recycled. When we first arrived, my first thoughts were, oh my gosh, this place is too cool. Then when I realized there wasn't a TV and I had very little cellphone signal, I freaked out a little, looked at my husband and said..."Oh my, we are going to have to talk to each other". HAHA. They provided several board games and a record player with all sorts of music options. We had a glass of wine, played UNO and the loser of each hand was the one that had to get up and turn the record over. Sitting on the back porch in the evening, watching the sunset and all of the stars took this little weekend trip over the top. If you need a few days to 'really' get away from it all. This is your place!!!! Oh, and did I mention they have a container pool and it's heated! Nevermind, I really didn't tell you that (JK). One of the best places I've stayed at in years. A place to get you away from it all. #StayAwesome

Can’t Wait to Rebook!
We absolutely loved this “hotel.” The setting is very peaceful as you can sit on the porch and watch the cows roaming in the ranch. We took full advantage of the grill and hammock and pool. We enjoyed the record player and it was nice to get away from the TV. The container has everything you need (drinks and snacks) and is decorated very well. We can’t wait to return and shop at the attached antique market and explore Round Top more.
