"Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice room with ensuite. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits available. Great choice at breakfast, including those, like me, who only want a continental breakfast. We dined in the attached restaurant both nights and the food, and service, was very good. We arrived by bicycle and safe storage was provided. All in all great value for money and highly recommended."

"It’s alright for the price. Beautiful old main building but the rooms in the external properties (which it wasn’t clear we’d booked) were very basic, almost youth hostel style. The thermal journey in the spa was a bit of a let down. Quite a small area and very busy. The price said it included slippers but it didn’t and it felt a little like a living Petri dish. The location is great though. Worth crossing over the railway to get to the track near the beach for a walk/run. We did that twice...

"I liked so much of it. Draw back for me as a 62 yr old woman travelling alone was the dining experience. Both at dinner and breakfast I was put in the middle of the room where I felt vulnerable. I did say something but they said it was what they had available. I did book a month or two ago so this wasn’t a last minute thing. I guess there will be those whose who don’t understand my concerns but there will be many others that will get it totally. Otherwise the room and lounges were all...

"What a great stay. Kevin and Maria were very attentive, warm, and hospitable. This was our first night in UK after a long flight and felt like home. The accommodations were very nice and the king room was so cozy. The bed slept great and had everything we needed. Good choice of relatively local (less than 10 miles) public houses for evening fare. Already hoping to get back there when next visiting the Lakes, which start only six miles north."
