  • Castle House features a unique 17th century tower and a 250 year old farmhouse incorporated into the fabric of a modern home creating a rather unorthodox layout, combining the traditional and the cutting edge in a beautiful, quaint setting.

    This listing is for the self-contained guest wing of our house, ensuring you complete privacy with sole use of the space and its amenities.
    The space
    The castellated tower is definitely the feature which draws the most attention, but Castle House has so much to offer.
    Located in the small village of Killea, near the foot of Devil's Bit Mountain, we are surrounded by lush countryside.
    During your stay you can enjoy the beautiful views from our garden and relax in the unique comfort of the house itself.
    We also have a huge library of boardgames for our guests to play and enjoy while here.
    There are many leisurely pursuits available around Killea and Templemore, such as golf, horse riding, fishing or hiking.
    And in the evening there is entertainment and refreshment almost on our very doorstep at the O'Sullivans pub, renowned far and wide for its friendly atmosphere, live traditional music and for serving a perfect pint of Guinness!

    We are a little over five kilometres from the town of Templemore on a relatively untraveled rural road.
    The junction to the M7 motorway is 15 km from Castle House, and from there you have an easy and direct route either East towards Dublin (about 1 hour and 40 mins) or West to Limerick (about 45 mins) and then on to Galway.
    This makes both Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport very convenient.

    Guest access
    Aswell as their bedrooms and shower/bathrooms, guests have access to their own private Kitchen, living room and reading/relaxing mezzanine area.
    Guests are also welcome to explore and relax anywhere in the garden grounds.

    As we charge by person per night, please let us know how many rooms and beds you require for you and your group.

We had a fantastic time, the rental was well setup for playing games and a writing retreat! We were all very comfortable. We also had some amazing trips in the are like visiting Devil's Bit and ran into the owners of an old mill and castle and were given unofficial tours! Unbeatable trip!

We got a wonderful time there. Perfect place to stay for discovering the area and to reach some wonderful hiking paths. The park of Templemore is absolutely worth a visit! We used the first hours inside the house only for discovering the big collection of books and boardgames. If you want to do an rest day, you got enough to explore!

A truly ethereal location, unlike anything we have ever encountered. The accommodation so reflects the owners, Dave and Suzanne, who were so warm and friendly. If you want something different, gothic/eclectic, in a beautiful mid-Ireland settlement, this is for you! And it was dog friendly! Loved it!

Dave and Susana are excellent hosts. All was as described in the listing and their home was easy to find. They kindly had milk, eggs and butter for us in the fridge, as well as tea, coffee, sugar etc. Dave greeted us on arrival and shared helpful suggestions on hikes, outings and restaurants. We also got the chance to meet their adorable dogs the next day.

Beautiful property and very comfortable. A little disappointed that listing had not been updated to reflect that nearby pub had been closed. Communication with owners was fantastic as there was an issue with their property managers and they made things right.

Wer das Besondere liebt, ist hier genau richtig.

Wir haben die besondere Atmosphäre dieses Hauses sehr geliebt. Um es richtig genießen zu können müsste man im Castel House eine Überwinterung buchen, wir waren leider nur 5 Nächte hier. Findet selbst heraus was das besondere ist. Wir können es nur befürworten. Alles was gebraucht wird, ist vorhanden.

Beautiful restored tower. Really enjoyed our two nights there with our puppy. Plenty of garden space for her to run around in. Pub two mins down the road for an evening drink. Only accepts cash, no food, very small, but lovely people in there. Short drive to templemore where all the amenities are. Can’t recommend this place enough to spend some nights :)

Very clear and cute house. Steps to the second floor are concrete and narrow. This is not to be negative but it is better to use a small suitcase to take upstairs. They list a washer but their house rules are not to use it.
