Expectations always color our experience. Having stayed in, and managed, many VRBO units I have come to expect a certain level of amenities and cleanliness. In fairness, if you are looking for a very remote location many miles away from even a grocery store, and are interested in crawfish netting, then this place might work for you. We are seniors and it definitely was not for us. We rented the unit for 17 nights and stayed only one night. Temperatures dropped into the low teens and it snowed that night. The space heater in the unit was barely adequate and we frankly feared for our safety.
In my opinion, the description of the property is misleading and doesn't reflect the tired furnishings, kitchen cabinets soiled by many years of being handled, and dishes with food stains with no dishwasher to get them any cleaner.
In fairness, the property manager did give us the opportunity to cancel and get a full refund up to 3 or 4 days prior to our check in. We had our pet with us and alternatives were few so we stuck with the reservation. I did inquire about a refund--at least a partial refund-- and was stonewalled by the management company. Yes they were not obligated to a refund, but sometimes doing what's fair and right is the better option regardless of what we had agreed to without really knowing what we were getting into.
