This is a lovely one bedroom apartment in the charming village of Pommard. set in the middle of vineyards of pinot noir. When you arrive, you can review pictures of the before and after of the renovation of a shell of a structure into a tasteful, and very functional unit with a great king bed. All of the floors are tile, but in the bathroom it seems to be heated. The location if very quiet as this is a working farming village, though you may not be the only visitors. It is 3 km. from Beaune, a manageable walk, but not something most will want to do every day. There are a few places to eat, but as we were there in late October, little was open. You will need a car. We made the mistake of planning our arrival and departure on Sunday, which I would recommend you avoid unless you have a car before heading to Beuane. Car rental agencies close early on Saturday and are closed on Sunday, as are most everything else. Su, the property manager, was very helpful and always responsive in arranging taxis when we were without our rental car (By the way, we had problems with Hertz, which is a franchise at a BP station and not a Hertz-company outlet. Although we prepaid for our car, we were charged another $240 before the service station manager would release the car to us. He was unpleasant to deal with, on top of that. This is not the first time I have had bad experiences with Hertz and will not use them again., even in the US.) If you arrive by train, you will need to pre-arrange a taxi, even if you have reserved a car and need to get to the rental from the Gare (French for train station,.) Taxis are hard to get. Back to Pommard. We cannot speak highly eough about the quality of finish in the unit. Bath towels were super-plush bath sheets. When we arrived, there was even coffee, milk, OJ, and snacks in addition to a bottle of cremant (Burgandy sparkling wine.) There were even herbs, garlic, olive oil and vinegars in the kitchen as well as salt and pepper! The location is great for getting around Burgundy, as well. Just drive south down valley away from Beaune to enjoy the Cote d'Or (chardonnay country) or toward Dijon for Cote d"Nuit (pinot noir country.) If you can, make reservations at Au Pres du Clocher, just blocks and an easy walk from the apartment. Unquestionably one of the best restaurants we have ever experrienced!
