The reality of the island is far from what is advertised: ​No Beach: The beach in front of the hotel no longer exists; it has been completely washed away by the sea. Instead of sand, you will find a long line of sandbags along the coast trying to stop the erosion. ​Dead Coral Reef: The reef right in front is completely dead. It’s just coral skeletons with very few fish. If you read reviews saying the reef is beautiful, it’s likely from people...

"Cape Tribulation is a very unique and special location. It’s certainly worth exploring and staying the night. The cabin was clean and the ensuite was large and clean. It was ideal having the ensuite because it was raining and although the amenities weren’t far, it wouldn’t have been unpleasant having to leave the comfort of your room to shower or use a toilet. Perhaps the price is up there, but I guess it’s fairly remote. Staff friendly, pub across the road made lovely pizza."

"I had a bad experiencie. Due to changes in my flight I was late to check out and when I came back my things were thrown in the trash bin. It was a shock because all my new souvenirs were in the garbage!!!! Although the manager helped me to retrieve them I thought it was extremely rude. "

"As first time travellers to Palm Cove we had high expectations but disappointed at the Aging of the Peppers Resort. Overall the resort is good but needs work and upgrades. Staff were very helpful and friendly. If you have difficulties with climbing stairs then choose a room with a lift or other."
