Great house for 8 guys on our 20th annual ski trip. Plenty of room to spread out and relax. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen (with a few exceptions below). Having a comfortable seat for everyone around the corner table was perfect. The ski-out is very convenient. Ski-in only requires a 5 or 6 minute downhill walk on the neighborhood street.
There was room for improvement by Alpine Ski Properties, the management company. The house was vacant two nights prior to our arrival and Jenny committed to call me on Tuesday to confirm early check in the next day. There was no call. I left a message prior to office hours Wednesday morning; still no callback. That was after Laura Lee, the outstanding after-hours service rep, took my call and also left a message at the office. I called again at noon and was told to check back later in the afternoon. When I stopped at the office at 2:30, they declined to provide the keys, saying that we needed to return shortly before 4:00 PM, even though we said we would wait until 4:00 to enter the house.
Two days after we arrived, I received a call regarding our check-in. They confused me with another renter for a different property.
The house was clean except for two garbage bags left in the garage, which we took to the nearby dumpster. There were no garbage bags for the kitchen but maintenance brought more after we called. The same occurred with dishwasher soap cubes two days later. Unfortunately, we broke a carafe for the coffee maker. A call to the office was answered with the promise of a replacement in 15-30 minutes. It never arrived. Two hours later, I called Laura Lee who apologized profusely and showed up at 8:00 PM with two brand new coffee makers because they had a smaller capacity. She was so kind and responsive on the occasions that I called.
There was only one small dish towel, so we used hand towels. The dishwasher needs to be upgraded or replaced. The racks are worn out and terrible for holding dishes. The wooden front panel pops off frequently when opening the door. It would also be nice to have access to a broom rather than sweeping the kitchen floor on hands and knees with paper towels.
The biggest disappointment was a grill with barely enough gas to hold a flame. We couldn’t use it on Super Bowl Sunday – our last day and the one day that we wanted to grill steaks and chicken.
There’s a lot to like about this property but management needs to step up its game – especially at today’s prices.
