Our family of six stayed for 3 nights and very much enjoyed our stay. We would absolutely stay there again. Since it was right on Mainstreet, we were able to walk from there to access everything in town, including the pool which was probably about 1/2 mile away.
Positives: 1) Location (see above). 2) spacious updated kitchen - plenty of plates, mugs, silverware, etc. A nice island and seating area. 3) Four bedrooms. Some shared a bathroom, but if you need 3-4 beds, this would work well for you. 4) historic building gave an authentic sense of life in Ouray. 5) Parking - tight, but enough for 2 cars which can be helpful on a crowded day in Ouray. 6) Nice decor. It felt comfortable and homey.
Negatives: 1) No AC. We were there on what may be some of the hottest days of the summer, but there is no AC which made the three upstairs rooms hot despite the open windows. 2) The building is so old, there is a lot of settling and sloping. It would be difficult for older people to navigate some of the stairs or even walking into some rooms.
3) The WiFi stopped working. Fortunately, a nearby restaurant had free guest WiFi that we picked up from the house. When it did work, it was 3 Mbps (somewhat slow depending on your needs). 4) The downstairs bedroom/basement felt musty and smelled like cat urine. Two of our family members are highly allergic to cats and felt it immediately. This could have been from previous guests.
5) Only double beds. Queen or King beds would have been nice in some rooms, but it works.
Despite some minor negatives mentioned above, we very much enjoyed our stay and could tell that the owners went above and beyond to create a welcoming environment for guests.
