"Quaint hotel in a beautiful city"

"I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign. I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. "Claire was very welcoming. The room was spacious and clean with a view of the beautiful garden. She did a typical English breakfast which was delicious with fresh fruit and other goodies. I would recommend."

"Stayed here many times but disappointed the room (carpet) didn't look clean, bathroom, this is only room with a bath and this will be the third time I've had this room and the bath taps don't work you can only use the shower. Previously I've had water in the room but not this time. Didn't look like the tea, coffee, etc. had been topped up"

"Cleanliness was good, but the humming sound in the bathroom, which I believe it’s from the water heater, was too loud for comfort. The pillows are excellent but the double bed is too small for 2 adults. There was no power point by the bedside, which caused some inconvenience for my husband’s CPAP machine."

"Lovely welcome from Maddie on arrival we were made to feel welcome and nothing too much trouble The room had some lovely extra touches like nice biscuits tea coffee and water We will definitely return we had a meal in the evening really reccomend that and folllowing morning breakfast was freshly cooked and relaxing. "Nice hotel in quiet location with lovely outside area. One member of hotel staff unhelpful when we advised that the WiFi was unavailable. Good evening meal, breakfast offered a reasonable choice but cooked option wasn’t great. Good hotel for the money though."

"Had a wonderful stay at this hotel before, so decided to take my husband for a Birthday treat. Staff are always very welcoming and can’t do enough for you. It’s at a beautiful location and the hotel is stunning, food is excellent. But unfortunately, this time I had a shocking encounter, of a man letting himself into my room, luckily I was dressed and had my husband with me. The poor man looked just as shocked as we were, apologised and said that he must have the wrong room and left. I finished...

"Excellent food in a lovely village next to a main road however when you shut the windows the traffic noise was vastly reduced. The close room was great value."
