Historical place. Time travel effect to a bygone eta. Great pictures of past glamor. Wonderful dining hall and gardens. Rooms and corridors show their age. Huge potential to make the hotel glorious again.

The great hotel of Outshdoorn
Beautiful old hotel in Outshoorn. Decorated with elements which remeber the history of the city. Very pleasant staff. Delicious breakfast. I love the great living room.

Bon hôtel, excellent personnel, mais à améliorer
L’hôtel est bien placé, le personnel impecable, le petit déjeuner buffet est bien mais la organisation de tables et les assiettes pour se servir il faut travailler La signale de wifi dans ma chambre étais bien mais la vitesse est lente Le problème de loadshedding dans le pays es compliqué, mais l’hôtel n’a pas de générateur

It’s good here
The Queens is a nice place to stay sadly the bar wasn’t open or the restaurant wasn’t open either maybe a little overpriced for what you get but would visit again

High expectations shattered
Very tired and urgently in need of renovations. Reception staff (a single male) was dressed in a tracksuit (15:00 on a Friday afternoon) and a bit clueless. Breakfast very boring and unimaginative - in contrast to what Cafè Brûlée has on offer. I was so looking forward to stay at this iconic landmark but was unfortunately totally disappointed.

Stunning old-school service, great place
Queens hotel reminded me what it’s like to visit a traditional hotel in a world full of anonymous AirBnB visits. Mario opened the door as I approached and greeted me by my name and then offered to help us with our bags. That little gesture put a big smile on my face after a several hours on the road. We used a family room and it was comfy and clean. Mario helped me with neighborhood tips for my jog and was working when I called it a day late at night and greeted me in the morning again (does he sleep!?). The family enjoyed the pool and the breakfast was pretty good in the adjacent coffee shop. I will come here again. I only review places that deserve the merit - this one does.

Geweldig hotel. Hele fijne nette kamer!! Heerlijk gedineerd in het restaurant van het hotel. Heel erg vriendelijk personeel. Mooie binnenplaats. Lekker ontbijt. Oudtshoorn is een leuke plaats met mooi museum vlakbij hotel.

housed in an elegant building; with opulent original features ; concierge service is exemplary; city-central location; I loved the remote location and the peace and quiet. The service from all the staff was first class, beautiful setting, very peaceful and relaxing. Immaculate grounds and rooms. Excellent food served by fantastic staff.

Definately not a four star
We have often eaten at the Colony restaurant and have had fantastic food. So we were happy to spend one night at the hotel, but what a disappointment. The rooms are small, the bathroom is minute. The built in cupboard is as old as the hotel and the bed was not comfortable. The inly positive thing was the good breakfast, I just wish they would match the cups to the correct saurcers. Forgot to mention that on the morning of our departure there was no porter available to help with our suitcases.

Alleen maar lovende woorden voor het hotel, restaurant Colony en personeel. Ook de locatie was voor ons perfect. Het was een kwalitatieve tussenstop na een lange rit van 330 km langs de Garden Route op weg naar George. Het verblijf was een extra Zuid-Afrikaanse beleving gezien de historiek van het Hotel. Beste groeten.

A family stay
We booked room 219 which is a family room. As this is an old colonial hotel the rooms were large with high ceilings. One room had a double bed and the other had 2 single beds. Each room had is own TV and the twin bedded room had a microwave, fridge, sink, cutlery and crockery. The beds were very firm but surprisingly comfortable and we all slept very well. Our room overlooked a really cute courtyard garden with a fountain. The shower is over the bath and the water pressure was good. There was plenty of hot water available. Breakfast was quite basic with bacon, eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, fruit and yoghurt. The hotel is well situated, very central and there are some lovely shops and restaurants within walking distance. On our last night there we had dinner at a restaurant just down the road called Nostalgie, amazing food at very reasonable prices. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and I am happy to recommend it.

Nice but not a 4 star standard hotel
We stayed for 1 night as a stopover.The room was nice but small the bathroom was tiny For a 4 star I would have expected a fridge and a bottle of water . Breakfast was nice but as a tour bus were there at the same time it was hectic

VERY AVERAGE STAY
The hotel is neat and clean but the air conditioner in our room never worked and despite an undertaking by a staff member to repair it the following day in order for us to enjoy it the second night no repair was done (and we froze for a second night). The cupboard which houses the kettle was also broken (would take less than 1 minute to glue it). "Things" should not be broken in a four star establishment! The hotel parking we were also told was unsafe as they had experienced breakins into the vehicle's of guests so we needed to remove everything from our vehicle. Get a security guard for goodness sake!

Dissapointed
Our initial reaction was that the hotel was particularly dated. The room was small but did have AC and a tv. The water running in the bathroom was brown which was a worry. We raised this in our initial 'check in' review from expedia and once returned to the hotel from our dinner, the receptionist informed us that the reservoir had flooded and all the village had the amen issue with the brown water. We were given 4 bottles of water to assist us as I was unable to clean my teeth in the brown water due to being pregnant. The bed was small and particularly uncomfortable for myself (very firm mattress). The breakfast was ok, not the best that we've had on our trip of SA and the variety was very limited. We were woken up early on our morning of departure by pots and pans being crashed about in the kitchen which was just across the courtyard from our room. For the price of the stay, we were disappointed. We've stayed on other hotels during our 3 week trip that have cost either the same or less and provided a much more comfortable room and stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly though.
