Overall, we had a nice stay at this Oak Island beach house. The home offered plenty of space for our group, and one of its biggest advantages was the quick, easy walk to the beach, which made spending time by the ocean incredibly convenient.Unfortunately, there were several issues that impacted our experience. Most notably, we were not informed prior to our arrival that the elevator was out of service. For a multi-level home, this was a significant inconvenience, especially when unloading luggage, groceries, and other items. We believe this should have been communicated before check-in, along with some effort to acknowledge the inconvenience or offer an appropriate accommodation.Communication during our stay could also have been much better. A maintenance technician arrived unannounced to work on the elevator and intended to remove the two smaller refrigerators in the kitchen, both of which were completely full of our groceries. While we understand repairs are sometimes necessary, advance notice would have allowed us to prepare and avoid the disruption.The pool area also needs improvement. There is absolutely no shade around the pool, making it difficult to enjoy during the hottest parts of the day. Additionally, there was not enough poolside furniture to accommodate the number of guests the home is advertised to sleep, and the furniture shown in the listing photos was not what we found upon arrival.Privacy was another concern.
