House was great, loved the open concept of the kitchen and living room. Nice large bedrooms, Kitchen was well stocked. Bathrooms were nicely remodeled.The photos of the beach views online were outdated. The vegetation on the dunes have grown up where you couldn’t see the beach from the deck. Overall a great place to stay.

Great but needs some tlc

The view, and how close you were to the beach was amazing. Overall the house was good to stay in and the description of the property was accurate. The house was in need of some tlc. The management group was easy to work with and brought us new beach chairs and boogie boards.

2nd time staying

This was our 2nd time staying at this beautiful beach house. We love the location, the views, and the ease of getting on the beach from the house. The property managers were extremely sweet and kind, we would definitely stay here again. We were a party of 8 staying (4 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 small kids) the house had plenty of room. In the mornings sitting outside under the covered porch while watching the dolphins, just magical.

Perfect get away

We had a wonderful spring break here at Jay’s Nest! The west end is so peaceful and quiet. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for the week. The communication from the management was clear and pleasant! We will definitely book again!

Ideal

We had a wonderful stay here! The owner was very responsive and helpful. The house was lovely and perfect for 2 families. Everyone had plenty of space indoor and outdoor while also feeling very connected. We loved watching the sunrise and sunset from the porches. Would definitely stay here again.

As described…older but well-kept and updated with paint and new furniture. Great outdoor decks and shady spots very close to ocean.

Everything you need!

Great house! Decorations are creative! It has all the supplies you need for a relaxing and fun beach trip! Lots of kitchen supplies, games and comfort. Beautiful views (inside the house and on the deck) and easy access to beach.

Fabulous Property

We truely enjoyed our stay at this beachfront property. We were welcomed from the start and they checked in periodically to see if we needed anything. The property itself was as advertised plus extras just made it better. Simple things like wave boards, games, a kite and forethought in kitchen utinsils such as crab claw crackers. We enjoyed every bit of what the place had to offer. I can't recommend it enough. Great views and ocean sounds...indoor and outdoor dining...just relaxing on the deck...easy access to the beach. We would certain stay here again. It was fabulous.

Restful, but not up to our expectations.

We loved the open view of the living area and kitchen. The view of the ocean was glorious, but the house was dirty and needed some special attention to certain areas. We had to clean the windows to get a clear view of the ocean! We killed 3 roach looking bugs. We brought our on linens, but the sheets on the King bed has blood stains. It didn't meet our expectations. But we do have high ones..., maybe more than most. We usually on vacation once a year, so we hope we are getting the best value for the money.

Jay's Nest

We loved staying here! The outside deck was our favorite place of the house. Everything you need for the house and beach are available. The location was perfect as there were no crowds on the beach and still close enough to the grocery store if we needed anything it was just a short drive. The only con was when we first arrived the house was still being cleaned. We did not arrive until 4:00. We went and grabbed something to eat and returned at 6:00. She was still there cleaning but we were able to unload our vehicles. She was there until about 7:00. I think she was hanging around longer than needed to but we appreciated the cleanliness of the home.

Needs improvement

The overall stay was lovely. The location and views are amazing. However we were disappointed with what was advertised and what we got didn't match or meet expectations. When we called management to discuss our concerns we were met with resistance and we were made to feel badly because we didn’t want all kinds of people (cleaners, handyman, exterminator ) in and out of our vacation home. All the things we contacted the property manager about should have been corrected before we even stepped foot on the property... ie: rusty and broken door chains, floodlights not in working order and severely corroded, cockroaches, fan in one bedroom and fan and light over the kitchen table not working, the “king bed” was two twins pushed together and our friend slept in the crack all week, mold in the bathroom, broken toys and games, the previous guests old cigar butts on the porch, broken glass in the rusty outdoor sink, rusty nails, dirty windows looking out to the beach, and more. We don't expect perfection, but we do expect when we pay a hefty price for a vacation rental for there to be a level of respect when we call with legitimate complaints to not be made to feel as though it was our fault. That said the cleaning staff and maintenance man we agreed to have come in were beyond genuine and respectful. The maintenance man did bring new boogie boards and a new stand up fan but I was made to feel in some of the communication with the property manager that they were doing us a favor by bringing those items when in fact they were in the advertisement for this home.

Jay's Nest Oak Island

This was a Beautiful home right on the ocean; beautifully decorated; and had everything you could need or want. The only initial downside, was the cleanliness, which isn't the owners fault. We arrived on 7/22, a bit before our 4pm check in time. The 2 gals cleaning were there when we arrived, we could tell bc their car was in the driveway, so we did not go in, or interrupt their work. We understood the check in time is 4pm, not earlier, so we waited in our car. The 2 women came out of the property at 4pm, with 2 small toddlers, approx. 2 and 3yrs old. They packed up and left. We entered the property at 4pm, to find the stairs leading up to the main living qtrs were absolutely filthy ( creme color carpet on stairs prob wasn't the best choice for a rental bc people aren't thoughtful about removing their shoes ); and the engineered hardwood floors throughout the main and second floor were also not clean at all. We contacted property mgmnt company and they apologized and sent the same woman to come back and re-clean the floors the next day. She came alone, and did a very good job, and the floors were cleaned properly. That same day, they sent a professional carpet cleaning co. to clean both carpeted sets of stairs; and they came out great, and were clean. We take our shoes off at the front door, and it seems most don't; so the carpets were just dirty from others being careless about this beautiful beach home. After that, smooth sailing! We would happily rent again!
