Firstly, it was cheap so you shouldn't expect the Ritz and it looks nice from the outside. Inside it's all a bit Fawlty Towers. Big queue at check in but they made us wait 90 seconds as it wasnt quite 4pm!. 3 people behind check-in but as the clock ticked over to 4, 2 of them disappeared to the back office meaning a 20 minute wait to get my key card. The room was fine but no wifi unless you pay and no phone reception in my room. The only plugpoint was miles from the desk, so to do any work, I had to sit on the floor so the laptop could be plugged in. I was told despite it saying it had a pool, I had to pay extra to use it.
Finally, I checked the bed (I work in the pest industry and so always check for things that shouldnt be there!). It was pest free, but the mattress was date stamped as being installed in 2010....maybe time to retire this workhorse!
Really noisy (which I dont blame the hotel for as its an old building) but if you want a quiet night, you will hear every creak of floorboard from rooms above and next door.
On checkout, a final grunt from the receptionist as I said goodbye to hand my key in, but she didnt take her eyes off the computer screen.
