Overall, my family and I had a great time in Newport beach. The location of the unit is outstanding. Just one house away from the sand. The communication with the managing company and check-in was super smooth too. The unit has a nice layout, decent bedrooms sizes for a vacation place, two nice bathrooms, a suitable-sized kitchen, and a great gas fireplace. This place has enormous potential after some needed improvements.
The rate we had to pay during the Christmas weekend unavoidably comes with high expectations too.
No 1 issue was the cleanliness: The cleaning company had done a quick 'in and out' job. The windows and the window blinds had lots of dust, the floor in corners and under the table had sand and hair (evident marks on where the broom had stopped), and the fans' blades on the ceiling (living room/bedroom) had thick layers of dust. The tables were not super clean either. The coffee maker seemed not to have been cleaned for months(?) - but it's shiny now :-) - a tip: that's a very affordable coffee maker in anyways, hence, they may want to consider changing it every couple of months if not willing to properly clean it. The fridge, plates, and utensils were nicely clean, as well as both bathrooms. The grill was also very clean.
I am expecting the management company to reimburse me the cleaning fee, but most importantly they may want to have a chat with the cleaning crew since they are not doing them a good service. When charging such a cleaning fee, you expect an outstanding job, and unfortunately, this was not the case.
Updating some of the furniture (the living room coffee table is about to lose one leg, one table chair had a broken piece, and all mattresses feel uncomfortable and of low quality) would elevate the value of this unit further. I suggest they 'sacrifice' (invest) a couple of weeks' profits and convert it into a truly outstanding unit; the potential is definitely there! I wish we will be able to visit this unit again next year and be able to enjoy an updated version of it by then! Keep up the great job!
Once again, the communication and arrangements with the management company were great. The location is magnificent, and the potential of this unit is enormous! Just two things: improve the quality of the cleaning service (since already paying a premium fee for it) and a suggestion to invest a tiny part of the profits for some low-cost maintenance/updates.
