2024 family vacation

Overall the house was great. Good proximity, quiet neighborhood, beach not too crowded. The views from the house are not as good as pictured. Dunes have been added blocking the ocean views and walkways from houses constructed out back block the views in a large part. The house has Lots of large pots and pans and a New gas grill. Would recommend this cottage.

Nice getaway

We like the layout and location of the property. We had no issues. In recent years, we have been staying at STRs that only require a code for entry, but this one was the older style where you have to pick up keys at an office. This office was 30 minutes out of the way. That was an inconvience.

It’s not a 4 star place but it is clean comfortable and very close to the beach and other attractions. I would definitely recommend it.

Awesome view!!

The location was perfect!! Cottage outdated, but had all our needs. Carolina Shores did a great job with any issues we had. Did have a few problems, but we worked through it and enjoyed the view and beach!

Beautiful location, dated house, terrible check in/out process

The location of the house is very nice. It's on a quiet street with glimpses of the ocean it does NOT have an oceanfront view. The house is very dated. The fans in most rooms are on constantly the light switches control plugins with lamps, there aren't any overhead lights in most rooms. The washer and dryer are outside downstairs which was terrible when it was raining on us. The windows did not open in one room and they need to be replaced. It was clean though but musty smelling and there were silver fish throughout the house. The absolute worse thing though was the rental company. We had to drive to kitty hawk which was an additional 45 minutes away just to pick up the keys and than we had to do it again to check out. This was a complete waste of time and resulted in unnecessary hours wasted just to pick up keys. I will not be staying with this rental company again as they also keep the security deposit for the full 30 days which is not cool.

Awesome first visit to the OBX!

We knew from other reviews that the cottage needed some updates prior to our booking but happily the cottage exceeded our expectations! Yes, it needs some updates, but overall it was exactly what we wanted. The two decks provided excellent views and the beach was just a few steps away. A new beach access bridge was built at the end of the road for the neighborhood. The beach was one of the most amazing places I’ve ever experienced in my 61 years! The cottage was clean and had plenty of dishes. The bathrooms were clean and all appliances worked. Central air was a real plus as the humidity was extremely high this past week. The neighborhood felt very safe and is away from the noise and congestion of the northern towns but close enough to restaurants and activities. We will be back for sure!

Family reunion

The location is great; nice view of the ocean, not too far to restaurants and cute town of Manteo. House is well equipped and layout is good for privacy and spreading out. However the one huge downfall that would keep us from renting again are the beds. They are as hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. We all left with sore achy backs. Also the kitchen is long overdue for updating. The refrigerator is rusting completely thru from the inside out; stove vent is rusted, floor is uneven and cracked in places. Didn’t distract from the use but the cosmetic upgrades would do a lot to enhance the overall ambience. Furniture in the living room has a beach feel but both couch and loveseat also very uncomfortable. and hard to sit on for any length of time. Nice place overall but would not rent again unfortunately.

Had some issues with the cleanliness of the house on arrival. House was listed as pet FREE but there was pet hair and odor on/in the carpet. The clothes dryer also had the odor of wet dog. The rental agency worked to take care of the issue. House needs some updating. Location is good.

Late summer trip.

Really enjoyed staying in this house. There was a few hiccups with maintenance needed on outdoor furniture and no board games in the house as listed. But overall would definitely stay again!

Labor Day Week 2020 Stay

The location of this property is ideal. The beach is steps away and there is a great view of the water from the porch. The inside is spacious and was clean when we arrived. Plenty of kitchenware to use for meals and drinks. Was unaware we would need to bring our own items, like bath towels, linens, toilet paper, and dish detergent, so that would have been nice to know beforehand.

We stayed at this property with another family. There was plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 girls. Proximity to the beach is perfect! Hardly any other people on the beach even in prime season due to the private street. Outside shower and hose were a lifesaver! Would definitely recommend.

Not fancy but very nice

It was very enjoyable there. We had everything we needed. The only problem was the beds were a little hard. Check in was great. Would like to return.
