The Eleanor Dare house is a beautiful property. Each of the 8 bedrooms has its own en-suite, which adds to the privacy of the guests.The house itself is overdue for a facelift. Some of the furniture in the family room is worn, and the carpets are threadbare in places. The slider to the 3rd floor deck was extremely difficult to operate, even after I oiled it. The shuffleboard table was unusable - you can’t even get the pucks to slide the length of the table. The management company was responsive to our concerns. When we arrived - at 4:05 pm - the door code didn’t work. Fortunately, the cleaning person stayed to make sure our code worked and, when it didn’t, she let us in. The problem was resolved in the next 30 minutes. We also had a problem with the cabana service. On the first day, it was too windy to set up the cabana, which I understood. But I wanted to use some of the chairs, which were all chained together. After about 2 hours and calls to both the management company and the cabana service, we got our chairs. The only other comment related to the windows. There is a beautiful view from the 3rd floor looking out over the ocean. But by the end of the week, the windows were so clouded over that the view became unimpressive. I wish there had been a garden hose and squeegee to keep a pristine view.On a positive note, the kitchen was well-equipped with dishes, pots and pans. The 2 microwaves and 2 dishwashers were very convenient. The table seated our group of 15.

Fun for Xmas on Nags Head

We had a 4-gen Christmas week at the Eleanor Dare cottage, and it turned out great. We walked the beach, rode bikes (e-bike rental), shopped, played golf and even fished one day. The cottage was great for spreading people out for games and movies, and for bringing everyone together for breakfast and dinner every day.

Great Family Vacation

The house was awesome! We used the theater and game room every night- ping pong and pool tournaments. We got the pool heated and I’m so glad we did! We were able to swim comfortably (with small children) our whole stay in September. Also, loved the convenience of having a beach tent and chairs already set up for us. The showers could have used a deep cleaning, a couple of people had hairs still on the floor/walls. The vent over the stove stopped working and the pool heater wasn’t working at one point but they responded right away and had someone out within the hour. Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely book again!

2024 Family Vacation

We truly enjoyed our stay at this house. Its location is great. The room for families to spread out and have their own space (especially with such a wide variety of ages - 69 to 8) was a welcome treat for everyone. The ocean view is stunning. Lots of fun places within walking distance.

Great House For Large Groups

This is the 2nd time we stayed at this rental. It’s a great house for big groups and all ages! It had plenty of rooms to accommodate Our family of 17, a baby, 4 kids under 5, 13 teenagers and adults comfortably. The proximity to the beach outside the back door and the private pool was unbeatable and why we keep coming back. Thanks for hosting us!

Large family visit

This house accommodated a large family gathering and provided a perfect space for us to spend time together and time apart. It was clean, with lots of fun kid-friendly amenities, and its own beach access allowed for easy ocean visits. Great house!! We will definitively book it again!

Family Vacation

We took a family vacation to Nags Head. This listing was perfect for our trip. The beach access and cabana service was perfect. We really enjoyed all the games(pool table, shuffle board) and the movie room! I highly recommend this listing.

Great Location

The location of this home is wonderful!The house is as advertised. Plenty of space for multiple families and it was great to all have our own bathrooms. However, be prepared to purchase everything you need! They don’t even keep a spice draw. You will need to get salt, paper towels, everything. We very much enjoyed the game room and movie theatre in the evenings. We paid to have to pool heated for the week. The heat didn’t not work the first 3 days bc of clogged filters. The pool light did not work so we couldn’t use it at night. While the management company sent someone out, it was a whole day to warm up, only allowing us to use the pool 1/2 the stay and with no light, never at night. That was disappointing as we purposely seemed out a house with a heated pool bc of the time of year. I’m not sure I would stay at this property again. While the location was great, I found the management company to be lacking. There was no binder with instructions for anything in the house. We were billed for a 7th night we had declined. There was no offer of a partial refunded for a pool we couldn’t use 1/2 the stay.

Great House, but hidden costs and cleaning issues.

We booked this house for my daughter's wedding. Nowhere on the website was there anything about an event fee. There were several notices about pet fees, but nothing about an event fee. About a month before the check in date, I received an email about the remaining charge for the stay. It included a $2,000 event fee. I would have never booked this house if I'd known how much the event fee was, and the booking was non-refundable, so I was stuck. Also, check-in was at 4:00. We arrived at 6:30 and housecleaning was still there. I had to finish cleaning bedding and there was a comforter missing. I called housekeeping but nothing ever arrived. Housekeeping arrived early on the day of check-out. House was beautiful for a wedding on the beach, but $2,000 for an event fee when the wedding was on the beach is ridiculous. Kees obviously is under-staffed given the lack of responsiveness from housekeeping.

Weather was crappy but because the house has so many amenities that we just enjoy our time inside

The property was nice and spacious for our group. We wish that we have more use of the pool and hot tub. We only got to use the hot twice when we were there and due to the cold weather wish we could have used it more. Pool did not get heated until our full last day and hot tub stopped working that day so we did not get to enjoy it. Service from Kees was wonderful, they answered every question and concerned we had.

Beautiful property- you can’t ask for anything better

This home is perfectly situated on the water, has amazing sunrises, quiet neighborhood, excellent amenities and the best perk? A huge pod of dolphins right in front of the house!!! I would have given 5 stars for check in if the all the beds had linens as stated in the rental agreement and every bedroom had towels upon arrival. They did come about 1-2 hours into settling into the house- this is to be expected though with the short staff as a result of the pandemic. Suggestion bring your own toilet paper- the one they provide is 1 ply and rough.

Does Not Get Better

If you are looking to stay in Nags Head this is the place. Home had everything one would be looking for. Location is extremely central to things to do within the area. You are also right in the middle for wanting to do things up north or down south. The beach was amazing and extremely private. There is not enough that I can say as to how great this place was. Thanks for letting us stay it helped us make family memories we will cherish for a lifetime!

Pre-Holiday Madness

So happy we chose this house. We wanted a little family vacation before Thanksgiving and Christmas prep was off and running. It was perfect. We had so much fun. House is beautiful. Had a good time playing pool and the arcade game. We couldn't find the ball for foosball but we had a lot of other things we could do. Couldn't ask for anything better. Even the weather cooperated.

Great house with minor annoyances

House was beautiful and in good condition with ~5 parking spots. Amazing beach access and amenities. Great to have so many bathrooms. Management company wouldn't allow us to check in early, in November, even if the cleaning folks were already done, without paying a fee, then said they don't allow any early checkin for houses this large. As a group of younger people, we never got the A/V systems to work throughout the house (main TV, audio in the theatre, whole home audio, etc). The garbage can compartment in the kitchen falls out and needs repair. The bunk beds are quite wobbly and probably not safe for kids on upper bunks. We were not left any extra garbage bags, and the garbage bins outside were packed, despite that trash had gone the day before which made it difficult for us to clean up.

This house is fun and amazing with beautiful views (3rd floor only) of the ocean. Worked perfectly for our family. The cleanliness needs to be stepped up, found used contacts, dried food on utensils and dishes, and maintenance needs to happen. Wifi is non-existent. Mice droppings all over 1st floor. No propane in grill. Kees was very responsive the 3 times I called. But these things should have been taken care of before arrival. Again, house was perfectly planned out, the 3rd floor is great for meals, games, and just gathering. 1st floor great for swimming, grilling and gameroom fun. Would come back if cleanliness was stepped up.
