The cabin is exactly as described, basic, rustic, but clean and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay, we did a lot of front porch reading. We made s'mores in the firepit out back. Perfect for a relaxing weekend in the mountains.

Priced Right

If you don’t mind a rustic house (hunting camp) you will enjoy your stay for the price. Close to Black Mountain and One of the best places to eat was the Blue Ridge Biscuit.

Wonderful quaint cottage.

This cottage has the true spirit of Montreat with its history and decor. Great porch! Everything you need for a pleasant stay! Host was most accommodating and easy to work with.

A Step Back in Time

The cabin had all of the amenities we needed and everything we were looking for. We especially enjoyed the spacious front porch and the wood burning fireplace. The leaves were at their peak in Montreat and so beautiful!

Fantastic Stay with Family

We loved our stay with 4 adult family members at this Montreat cottage. The front porch is over-sized and the perfect place to gather. Most nights we grilled in the backyard because temperatures were high for July. We are looking forward to going back!

Family Getaway

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was nice to relax and disconnect for a few days. Location was great for a short drive into Black Mountain for shopping and food. It was fun to step back into time a little with this home. We hope to return again in the future!

Bit of Heaven

Montreat community is special. After visiting there for fifty years it is a tradition for all of my grown children and grands. A few of us went this week and enjoyed it immensely. Porch sitting in Montreat is a favorite pastime.

Historic cabin

I have been going to Montreat my whole life, and this cabin felt like a trip back in time to when the retreat town was established. The cabin is very rustic. The kitchen was updated enough for us to be able to cook normally, and the bed we slept in was new and very comfortable. The front porch is the best part of the house with lots of room to eat, sit, and enjoy Montreat’s beauty. We walked or took a short drive from the house to the trailheads and saw some gorgeous vistas. And of course we walked to the center of Montreat as well. It is a perfect location to enjoy the town.

Great Old school mountain house

Great front porch, claw foot tub, cool attic room for kids — everything you need for the authentic mountain experience. Also, the backyard is huge with a great fire pit. If you’re looking for a generic suburban style house, this one’s not for you.

Birthday weekend getway

While the house is definitely rustic, it was well equipped and the description was accurate. It was clean, and despite the lack of air conditioning on a particularly hot weekend, the house stayed a comfortable temperature using just window fans. The community is quiet and peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife while drinking our morning coffee on the front porch.

Perfect weekend getaway

We stayed from Saturday to Monday for my daughter’s 17th birthday. The cabin was so cute. It was a chilly weekend so the fireplace was put to good use. The axe was broken but we were able to find enough wood around the back yard. We hiked, hopped rocks in the creek, and enjoyed the local restaurants and shopping in Black Mountain. The location was perfectly close to everything we needed. We would definitely stay in the cabin again.

Perfect quiet get away

Simple home with the 1914 vibe, yet perfect! I actually would have extended my stay had the home been available longer! The front porch is fantastic. It was fairly cool at night and low 80’s during the day, which was fine without the AC. The “overview” on this home is spot on. Thanks for sharing this gem!!
