Stayed here for my birthday with my husband and two yr old. The view was lovely, especially at sunset. The house was decorated very tastefully, and the kitchen was well stocked with most of the supplies you’d require. Ingles Supermarket is about 15 minutes away if you need anything. Everything was exactly as pictured, except for the patio chairs, which the cushions should seriously be replaced because they were so dirty. Glad we brought our camping chairs. The house was otherwise clean and had a nice layout. The proximity to the lake was fantastic; so peaceful sitting on the deck watching boaters and the water. We fed the ducks grapes and oats and enjoyed watching the ducklings. I was excited to go swimming having seen a review pic of people jumping in, but the water was a little too dirty. There’s a lot of boat traffic and all the gunk gets pushed to the shore. I would have loved a kayak or paddle boat to enjoy the lake more. We rented a pontoon from a nearby place for a few hours, which was terrific; the lake goes on for miles. Otherwise we sat on the very hot deck under the small umbrella for shade. It is August after all! There was a box fan in one of the rooms which we greatly appreciated. Maybe upgrade to a sun setter retractable awning? Not too much to do around Monticello; the Indian Springs park was a letdown, but the Fire and Ice restaurant had good food and a nice vibe.
If you own a boat this is a great home base with the boat ramp. However maybe put a safety chain across the boat ramp? It’s very slippery; my son got too close to the water and fell in, and I fell in trying to help him, which was a mess. All in all I would stay here again, avoid the ramp, and bring a beach tent to sit out on the dock. There is a bridge close by which was noisy with traffic, but it didn’t really bother us. Thanks for a very nice stay!
