"Overall, the stay was disappointing. On the positive side, the onsen was lovely and the attendant on the ladies side was very helpful. That said, nothing is available until 3 and you have to rush to make an on-site reservation for the open air area after 3 (there was not an option to reserve prior to 3). The front desk staff provided inconsistent information on check in and was initially unhelpful in storing luggage that did not fit in the automated storage machine. Bottom line, do not arrive...

"This was one of the most beautiful ryokans I’ve stayed at in Japan. From the moment you walk into the lobby, you’re greeted by a stunning floor-to-ceiling window overlooking a peaceful Japanese garden and pond. It’s such a memorable and calming way to begin the experience.
We booked the half-board option with both dinner and breakfast included, and the food was excellent. Every meal felt thoughtful, beautifully presented, and very satisfying.

"The staff is attentive and the onsen is very relaxing. The hotel sometimes feels like a maze. Even though it said on its website that they had a SPA continuously, it was closed for the day we went (tuesday); double check that. The buffet breakfast is definitely worth taking. The walks around the hotel and next to the lake will show you beautiful sights. Walking distance to the waterside shrine and the Laketown. "
