Fantastic location with great views across the gorge. This means that access is not great. The (paid) parking is a little way away, although a transfer can be arranged - for a fee. We had a suite, which was very atmospheric, but a couple of slight niggles - just one comfortable chair and as other reviewers have mentioned, the air con and dehumidifier are a little noisy. All the towels were changed daily - unnecessary for a two night stay, with no obvious way of saying not needed. The ‘glasses’ for both the minibar and in the bathroom are plastic, which doesn’t feel right for a hotel of this obvious quality. The breakfast was good with a large range of the foods. Due to limitations of space only small quantities are put out at a time, but they were replenished regularly, and if something was missing, you just had to ask. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
All in all a great experience in Matera, which is a beautiful town not to be missed.
