This property serves its purpose well for a short-term stay in the area. In summary:
Pros:
• Communication with the owner, Lynn, was outstanding. She responded quickly to inquiries and provided a number to send texts for immediate responses.
• We were welcomed with homemade bread, pesto, and treats in the kitchen, as well as some coffee to brew the next morning.
• Fresh flowers from the garden adorned the kitchen table and counter.
• The property had lots of maps and brochures of the area, providing tons of information for things to do while in town.
• The décor was quirky and eclectic – definitely not your typical stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
• The proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park was ideal, which was our main reason for the visit. It was also close enough to the bigger towns of Fort Collins and Estes Park to make it easy to visit for a few hours.
• Nice little downtown. Good restaurants and great microbreweries – we really liked Crow Hop!
• Bicycles provided an additional way to see the area. We rode them on the river trail and through town on Saturday morning, when traffic was light.
Cons:
• Wi-Fi was available, but the connection was weak. Our phones and laptops kept dropping the signal, and we resorted to using a hotspot from one of our phones.
• Train whistle at 3 a.m., every day. Enough said. Not Lynn’s doing, obviously, and maybe not a problem if the windows are closed.
• There was a weird odor near the toilet. We weren’t there long enough for it to be a major problem, and we didn’t even mention it to Lynn.
Overall, it was a cute little place to stay. If you’re looking for something a bit different than the standard hotel stay and you want to be on the path less traveled, this is a good place to start.
