This was my very first experience renting through HomeAway, and I was concerned about the cleanliness of the property we will have stayed at. I was relieved to see that it wasn’t just clean, it was impeccable. Our every expectation was exceeded. Jill is awesome and very very nice. We couldn’t have asked for a better host. She treated us as her family. We actually met her family members and heard their story.
The apartment itself is perfect for three couples or individuals. There are two master bedrooms, and there is one bathroom in the hallway, which makes it even for all guests.
The bedding is to die for. At least one of the beds has a memory foam mattress.
The location of the apartment is going to blow any hotel out of the water. On our first day I went on my usual morning walk and in no time I reached the walk of fame, the Dolby theater, and other landmarks, which make LA the Mecca of the entertainment industry. You can also go there by foot at night, which will save you a few bucks on parking, $20 on average. Just be prepared for a hike or to get a Lyft back home, as the apartment is sitting on top of a hill. This gives it a great advantage as far as the views. You can actually see the Hollywood sign from the deck of the apartment, and the Griffith Observatory as well. Watch for hummingbirds just outside your windows. We kept our windows open most of the time as the weather was perfect and we didn’t want to turn on the AC. We never had any bug problems.
There is a washer and dryer on site, which makes it very convenient.
The pool is heated and the heater starts working at about 8 am. Some mornings the water was warmer than air, and that made the morning swim even sweeter.
One spot in the garage is included.
A tip: if you have a rather large vehicle, such as SUV, or a truck, it might not be able to fit fully into the garage. We had a KIA Sorrento with three rows of seats, and had no problems, but guests from another unit had an even larger vehicle, which didn’t fit. They had to leave the garage door open.
As far as grocery shopping: I recommend the nearby Trader Joe’s. Pricing at other stores didn’t seem to be fair.
We grilled one night and had a dinner al fresco. There is a grill on the deck. There were a bunch of supplies (olive oil, pasta sauce, condiments, spices). If you decide to cook at home, I’d suggest to assess the pantry first in order to avoid buying something extra.
Bottom line: the property is great, Jill is wonderful.
